I chose different designs for my shower and wedding thank you cards, for precisely the reason that you mentioned. I used a less formal design (still pretty formal) for the shower, and a more formal design for the wedding.
I'll probably do separate cards for the shower and for the wedding so guests don't get repeats.
I did different ones, but I don't think that people really pay that much attention that it matters much.
Mine will probably be the same... I bought a giant box of thank yous from Target (cute pink floral ones) a couple months ago. I think there's like 100. If anyone cares, they're weird :) Plus, I don't keep thank you notes that people send me, so I probably wouldn't notice if someone sent me the same card.
I think they should be different cards. I think it just makes it seem like you put a bit more thought and effort into it.
I have personalized cards with my old last name on them that I sent out for the shower thank yous. They werent thank you cards per say just regular note cards with my name in script on them. For the wedding I am using different cards that have a ltitle yellow sunflower on a white background that says "Thank You" on the front. I dont think they have to be different though!
Thanks! I will make two sets of Thank you cards, then. One for the showers and one for wedding gifts.
I think getting all the wedding thank-you's out in 1 month is unrealistic, if you want to write nice thank you's and not quick 3 sentence things. Most people go on a honeymoon right after the wedding for at least a week. Then that leaves 3 weeks for adjusting to married life, calling some important people to thank them, working full time, and writing say 100+ thank you's with a picture enclosed? A lot of people don't even get photographer's pictures back for a few weeks. I think 3 months max is a good goal to shoot for.

Question...I know that I need to send out thank you cards within 2 weeks after the shower and within a month after the wedding. Should these cards be different designs so that people are not receiving the same thank you card for the shower gift and then again for the wedding gift? What do you all think?
