Hmmm, personally I would be wanting to send out thank you’s as quickly as possible for etiquette reasons.  I would use the pic from your friend, or you could maybe just send photos out with Christmas cards in a month or so?

I know etiquette should play a factor, but personally, I would LOVE to receive a thank-you note that included photos of the couple and of me at the wedding. I wouldn’t care if it took more than a month after the wedding to receive — I don’t sit at home and stew over how long it’s taking a couple to send me their thank-you note, and I would hope no one else does either. So I think waiting to include the photos would add a wonderful, memorable touch to your guests’ overall wedding experience…even after your day is over!

A thank you note I received for a wedding gift had a cute picture of the couple holding up the gift I had given them. It was pretty nice to see they had taken the time to photograph themselves with each gift they were given.

I agree with karaboo30. I don’t count the days until I get a thank you card and I personally love thank you cards that included photos of the couple. I usually receive thank you cards 3-4 months after the wedding so the timing is really no big deal.

When I used to train new employees, I’d tell them how to do something the way it’s supposed to be done, the way they can do it, and the way I did it so they had a few options. So, I thought I’d give that a try here. 🙂

Supposed to….the Association of Bridal Consultants encourages one month, with a second month in case you’re waiting on photos.

The Emily Post website says 3 months

I think three months is fine.

We did six months. 🙁 Someone said we had six months, and we ran with it. I don’t reccomend it. Although, we sent postcards from our honeymoon to everyone who attended AND we made each thank you card super personal, so I’ve been trying not to feel too bad.

And I’ll admit…I wait for those thank you notes. But mostly because I work my butt off at everyone’s wedding. I can’t tell you how bummed we were to get one that said "thank you for your gift. It’s really useful" after my guy and I spend the entire day decorating, arranging, tearing down, and cleaning up. We did get the some fancy chocolates, but I don’t think they’re exactly "useful".

we had our wedding in early august and only have about 10% of the thank you cards out 🙁

Since we STILL don’t have our pro pictures yet, what we did was we asked the photographer to select a good picture for us and they sent some sample ones over for us to choose, and when we got one that we liked, they sent us the High res copy so we could print it out ourselves.

I’m planning on printing out the pro-pics of all our guests and sending them out with Christmas cards this year.
