@Daizy914: The last line is fine but, I suggest you be a little more specific rather than referencing a generic “gift”. If I saw that, it would make me think not only did you dash through all your thank- you notes in one evening, but also that you had no idea who gave you what.

“Thanks so much for the waffle maker. We will think of you on those lazy mornings when we start a new family tradition of Sunday waffles.”

” We so appreciate your generous gift of four  place settings of our ____ ___ china. Mr Daizy and I can’t wait until we get settled in our new home and can invite you to dinner.”

Most of ours were cheques and we wrote something along the lines of “thank you for your generous gift! We plan on putting the money towards our honeymoon in the summer. It was great to see you at the wedding and we’re so glad you could be a part of our special day!”

We changed it slightly for a few of them, and we further personalized the ones to our close friends who we see a lot.

@Daizy914:

We also got mostly cash and checks. We did not register so we were expecting that. On the thank you’s for those who attended, we wrote “Thank you so much for your generous gift. We are saving to purchase a new home and your gift will help us move towards that goal. Many thanks for thinking of us and sharing our special day”. On the thank you’s of those who did not attend but mailed cards, we wrote “Thank you so much for your generous gift. We are saving to purchase a new home and your gift will help us move towards that goal. Thank you for thinking of us at this special time in our lives”. We switched it up some depending on the closeness of who them were from and the amounts and such. Hope this helps!

@Daizy914:  I would come up with something you plan on spending it on even though you don’t know yet. You could say you are putting it in savings or even tell them you are putting it towards little things.

We told people we were putting it towards:

-a new camera

-a kitchen table

-a patio set

-our honeymoon

We tried to vary it so that people who are in the same circle all received something different 🙂
