We're almost done with ours and i t's not quite 3 months...my goal is to get them sent out by the end of the month.
We only took a mini moon and so I had a bit of time before heading back to work, so I did them then. I sent them out 2 weeks after the wedding---but I'm kinda of an OCD/prompt/typeA freak :)
we had to wait until our professional photos came back to have our photos printed on the thankyou cards - we did moo.com greeting cards for them. and sent them out about 2.5-3 months after the wedding. and i have one more left - we just got another gift!
heres what ours looked like (we had 4 different poses with the parasol) - i think its worth the wait:

Mine were out about 3 weeks after the wedding. I just wanted to get them written and get it over-with (like pulling off a band-aid).
Plus I didn't want to let it go on for months and have people think I was rude when I'd see them (and having them think "Where's my Thank You??").
I got married the same weekend you did...and I think I got mine out in August. We had to wait for our pro pics to get back, then wait for the cards to be printed. I felt like our 2 month timeline was decent. But we STILL had my MIL say something to me about not having them out yet. STFU, I'm working on it!
besides 1 gift that we JUST got, they were all sent less than a month after the wedding, but actually most got sent even before the wedding (all of them for the gifts we got beforehand). i was starting grad school about a month after the wedding, and so i wanted to get them done before!
@JuneBride_26June2010: Date twin! I got about 95% of mine done in August/September, but there are still a handful I have yet to send. And I've been feeling like an a$$hole. So it makes me feel better knowing at least one other June bride hasn't finished hers yet either.
spaganya Love the parasol! We were going to do that, but we already bought photo-insert Christmas cards last year on clearance at Hallmark, and decided we'd be sending out wedding photos in our Christmas cards, and thank you notes would be going out around the same time, so we stuck to plain thank you notes. But great job!
Mine were out within 6 weeks of the wedding and most of that time was waiting for the pro pics to come in... and then the cards to be printed and shipped to me. Once I actually had the cards we banged them out within a week. To be honest I was feeling pretty terrible that it took as long as it did.
@spaganya: So pretty!
All but two of mine are written, just have to address some others and get them out the door, 60% of them have gone out, our three month mark is our absolute deadline! I was bummed that I couldn't do photo thank you cards, after reading on the bee about how it's more common to have them out within 2 months I freaked and got started. I still don't have my photos yet, hopefully early next week is what my photog said.
i LOVE the pic!!! I made ours in photoshop from our pro-pics as well. I've had them sitting around for 3 months, I just haven't actually sent them out - again, didn't want to write out the envelopes and buy the stamps. i suck. lol.
at least they ARE out though! I have a friend here at work, she got married last YEAR as in 2009 (May, I believe?) and NEVER sent hers out! My bro and SIL never sent any out either, and they got married in 2005!
I did ours just after the 3 month mark. I actually ended up doing them in two batches because we ran out of stamps
@JuneBride_26June2010: I had to click other as we had ours out two weeks after the wedding!
We got married on Halloween and went away for Thanksgiving. We had A LOT of snow during Thanksgiving which meant A LOT of indoor cabin fever downtime. We hammered out all of our TY cards during that time.
Our wedding wasn't that big so we had about 75 cards to write. As we continue to receive gifts we send out a card right after we receive the gift!
@Baileyh: i have to say, that is awesome! i really wish I would have gotten ours out sooner...oh well they're out now! :D
Thank you for posting this - mine have just been laying on my dresser since I took them out of the box! I told myself to finish them yesterday ... the real goal is to send them out by Monday.
This is all very interesting to read! I'm not getting married until May, but being the "over planner" that I am... I have a plan for this. I have 2 weeks off (well, 2 weeks to pack, move, unpack, move-in, sleep, etc.) between our wedding and honeymoon - and I was going to knock out the thank you cards then.
Is this too soon?
@JuneBride_26June2010: I should state that we only did a mini moon, so we were only gone for four days after the wedding. AND after the wedding DH had a painting job he needed to finish so i went to the job with him and just punched out all the cards in a few days as quickly as possible.
For a thank you card i just had nice cards in my colour and wrote a meaningful note in the them and then encluded a 4x6 professional pic of DH and I. I didnt get ones prcessed with the Thank you underneath etc. so i was able to just print off 100 by myself and get it done quickly (Plus now people can put the photo in a photoalbum!)
I got married 2 months ago and had the last thank you's sent out 3 weeks ago. I just wanted to get them done! We had to sent out about 130 thank you cards for about 200ish guests.
Our cards were sent out three months after our wedding. We were gone for three weeks for our honeymoon and I had to wait for the professional photos to come in before we could start. I did our photo in photoshop, cut the photo a little smaller once it was printed and put it on a purple 4 by 6 card.
this was ours:

It took me four months and a blizzard to get them done.
i had to wait for a photo from our photogs which took forever, just got the photocards last week and will be hopefully finishing them and sending them out just shy of the 3 month mark... definitely before Christmas!
We got them out within 3 months of our wedding but since we have recently received a few more gifts we have about 6 more thank you notes to get out. They will go out most likely on Monday because our next round of cards going out will be Happy New Years cards with our wedding photo on it (we did not have a photo on our thank you cards)
Married in June... did about 1/3 of them and sent them and have been procrastinating on the rest! Horrible, I know.
I voted other...ours were out about 2 weeks after. Of course, we had a tiny wedding though!
Ours were all sent (or handed off in person) within six weeks of the wedding, which was a month after we got back from the honeymoon. We received some late gifts in one batch (cash gifts lumped together from MIL's coworkers) about two months after the wedding, and we sent thank-you notes for those about a month after we received them.
I just sent out the first set last week. I still have the ones that didn't get gifts from Macys...love their thank you card manager!
I felt guilty just about every day until I sent them out, but I really wanted to do photo cards and it took awhile to get the actual digital files. Only 2 people were upset that they didn't get them sooner...
I think it depends on what type of thank you's are being sent. You mentioned it was just a photo card with an envelope...so what was keeping you from sending them before? If that isn't the case and you are handwriting each one, more time is allowable, in the end I think the general rule of thumb is anytime in the span of a year, you have the chance to thank and people have the chance to send a gift. Personally I think 6 mos. would even be to long, but to each their own!
I was unemployed right after the wedding so I had free time on my hands. I sat down and did all of them in 2 or 3 sittings. I think they were all out like 2 weeks after the wedding.
Sent mine right at the 6 week mark after our wedding! 4 weeks after we got back from our Honeymoon! When we got back from our honeymoon I got a pro-pic, ordered the cards (they came out badly) had them reprinted and re shipped, and got them out 2 days after I recieved them in the mail!
I sent thank you notes as I got gifts in the mail before the wedding so there wasn't too much to do afterwards.
They were all done within two weeks of coming home from the honeymoon just because I wanted to get it over and done with.

Ok - so I am fullheartedly 100% here to say, "Hello. My name is Keri and and I am a procrastinator".
Ok, so our wedding was in June. That was 5 months and 2 weeks ago. I JUST put our thank you cards in the mail. Literally 5 minutes ago. I've had the photo/thank you cards printed for about 3 months now, just haven't sent them. I hand-wrote all the envelopes and dangit, stamps are expensive when you're mailing out a lot of cards!
Anyways...I'm just curious - when did you send yours?
