Tomorrow is the last day of work for my two interns. They did a great job for me this semester, and I wanted to do something small to thank them and make their last day a little special.
I was planning on just bringing in some cookies or doughnuts or something, but this morning someone brought in three huge plates full of cookies, so we really don’t need any more food around the office.
Can anyone think of something small and generic I could get them that would fit a working relationship? I’ve already written them letters of recommendation, but I’d feel guilty letting their last day go by without something to recognize their work or thank them. Any suggestions?

Starbucks gift cards? $10 each? or perhaps order in a nice lunch or take them out to lunch. My supervisor took another intern and me out to dinner on our last day and we really appreciated it.

Gift cards are always great when you pair it with a meaningful card or treat!

@Miss Mochaccino: Nailed it! We can’t go out to lunch, but $10 Starbucks gift cards in a handwritten thank you card would be PERFECT! And I love that this suggestion came from “Miss Mochaccino.” 🙂 Thank you so much for making this so much easier for me!

A gift card might be nice – I got taken out to dinner a couple times, and one summer, they gave me sticky notes, pencils (for my love affair of office supplies), a random cookbook that employees gave recipes for, and a lovely piece of wall art that says imagine, dream, inspire on it.
Obviously, that was very generous – so maybe a small gift card and lunch 🙂
