When I wrote my shower thank-you notes, I just wrote whatever came to mind.  I didn’t follow the traditional wording, except for the people I didn’t know very well.  Some of my thank you notes were more like, “Holy cow!  I loved the (gift)!  And I loved the way you had it wrapped!”

It made it more fun for me to write them and I think it probably made them more fun to read!  I’d encourage you to write your thank you notes from the heart, without worrying about the wording.

Dear Name of Guest,

East Coast Groom and I want to thank you for sharing in celebrating our wedding. We truly appreciate ___________* and are so thankful to have someone like you in our lives. Thank you again, and we hope to see you again soon!

Bride and Groom

*use “your generous gift” if they gave you money

*name the gift if it was an item or giftcard

If and when you think it’s appropriate, add in a sentence about a fun memory (“we loved your kareoke rendition of Saturday Night Fever”) or how you will use the gift (“we can’t wait to have you over for drinks made with our new blender!”). Keep the tone light, appreciative, and be sure to date the note so the guest knows you wrote them quickly!
