I just wrote 4 thank you notes! We have 7 weeks until the wedding and have already received 4 gifts! Only one was from our registry, but that’s ok, the others are really nice as well… things we’ll definitely use. Plus, I know we’re having a check mailed to us (they sent it to my mom) and a platter from our china set (my mom’s boss who forgot to write a note in it freaked out and told my mom for us to look out for it).
So what do YOU write in thank you notes? I mention the gift, and say how excited we are to use it. So far the gifts are from people who can’t come, I say we’ll miss you at the wedding but will be thinking of your (or something like that). And then say thanks again and sign our names. But how do you say thank you for money? “Thanks for the check, we can’t wait to spend it?!” Haha, no I don’t think I can do that!
What do you think bees? About the money? About thank you notes in general? About all the presents you’re already getting! 🙂

I think for money, say something like
“Thank you so much for your generous gift. We are saving for _______ (a house, our honeymoon, etc.) and when we reach our goal, we will think of you! We’ll miss you at the wedding, but looking forward to reconnecting/talking to you/catching up _______ (at Christmas, next time we see each other, etc.) Thanks again!”

I think it is always good to say “Thank you so much for the generous gift we will be using it/saving it for _________ (a home, furniture, renovations, or your future).” Also let them know you regret that they cannot make it but you sincerely appreciate that they thought of you and your FI. If you will see them soon add that but if not add that they will surely be missed and you wish them well or some other salutation.

For my thank you notes, I said something to the effect of ‘Thank you for sharing our day! Your wedding gift is very appriciated and will be a great for our goals as newly weds!’ etc..
Although, I just received a thank you note today that said ‘Thank you for sharing our day! You guys were a blast on the dance floor! (Etc.) We just came back from (honeymoon) and had a wonderful time – too much food and rum! Again, Thank you for everything!’
I thought mentioning their honeymoon was a fun twist to the thank you note!
