I’m having trouble wording thank you’s when someone gives a cash gift plus something else. For instance, a book and a check.
When people have just given of checks, I’ve written something like “thank you for your gift. It will be a big help setting up our new home!”
But if its an item and money I don’t know how to word it – “Thank you for the vase and for the other gift” sounds weird. What do you say?

I was told that anytime you are referring to money in a thank you card, you call it “generosity.” So, “thank you for the vase and your generous gift” etc etc.
