My husband and I stood up together, and he did the talking. He just said a general "thank you all for coming, it means so much to us that you're here to spend our special day with us. We love you all and are so thankful for the love and support you have shown us over the years" type thing. We didn't thank anyone specifically, and it was pretty short.
We didn't do a thank you speech. Were we supposed to?
We had a four guest elopement, so we thanked each guest specifically with a little story of how that person was important to us.
We did one it was ad libbed. My husband made me do it at he last minute, I had thought that we would both talk. We thanked everyone for coming ang thanked folks for helping us out.
MissAsB - I THINK at most wedding the Bride and Groom stand up and say a quick thank you to the guests.
I've been to weddings where they list every single venue, important person, etc... and I don't want to do that. Like I said I HATE public speaking so the sooner I can sit down, the happier I'll be LOL.
We didnt really do a thank you speech either. Neither of us wanted to get up and talk! We told the DJ ahead of time we would not be doing this when he said he wanetd to play a song and then gather everyone together. He flat out ignored us and said he "forgot" and made some huge announcement that we had some words to say! I gave him the look of death and told him we werent doing that and he started to say into the mic "what you dont want to THANK YOUR GUESTS". I couldve killed him! Long story short, my DH ended up saying just a few words, basically saying thank you for being with us and there was only a couple hours left - go drink at the bar and have fun!
naangel55 - I would have FLIPPED if that had happened to me! I think we're going to say something but it will be very short and sweet. I like your part about "go drink at the bar and have fun".
@Sunshine - yeah we were pretty upset, also because it wasnt the only thing our DJ did wrong. I dont think anyone wouldve noticed if we didnt say anything but oh well. Short and sweet :)
@naangel: I think we both got annoying DJs who didn't listen to what we want. I would have freaked out if I had to give a few words to everyone without planning on it at all!

For those of you who are already married or for those who are getting married really soon... what did you say in your thank you speech? Who did you thank, how long should it be? I HATE talking in front of large groups so I'm dreading the thank you speech...
