My father passed away when I was 15, so my mom is my only parent left. She's pretty cool, but as a mark of respect I told my bf I wanted him to ask her for her blessing before he proposed. Not her permission, but her blessing.

So last night we were on our way to have dinner with her and my sister and her husband, and then go see Avatar. On the way to my mom's house, bf mentioned very quickly and quietly that he wanted a minute alone with my mom. We were talking about the ring, etc., before, so I knew what he meant.

After dinner, we were cleaning up in the kitchen when he leaned over to my mom and I heard him ask if he could talk to her for a minute. I saw her nod out of the corner of my eye, but nothing happened. My sister and her husband left to go to the movie theatre and it was just the three of us. Nothing happened.

We drove my mom to the movie. Nothing happened.

We sat through the movie. Nothing happened.

We took her back home and bf asked if he could walk her to the door and she said no!

She gets out of the car and I hug her goodnight and am trying not to say anything because it's bf's thing and not mine, but I'm sure she either didn't hear him right the first time or forgot, because she's been bugging me about when he's going to propose. She didn't say no to be mean, she just didn't understand.

So we get in the car to drive off and after she goes inside, he says, "Well, I gave her the chance." I'm like, you should have pushed harder! He said, "I'm not a pushy person." Which is true. I understand. But then he goes on to say... "But what if I was going to propose before I see her again?" as we're BACKING OUT OF HER DRIVEWAY.

I told him, "Then you better park this car and go ask right now."

But he didn't!

I'm going to be so pissed if my mom's cluelessness delays him proposing-- because I'm making him ask her!

I have a feeling it (was) going to happen really soon after we get our stone tomorrow. He's been trying to drop hints to both torture and confuse me. But now I'm thinking I need to find excuses to have him with me when I go see my mom REALLY SOON, haha.

Sorry for the length... I don't really need advice, I just wanted to vent. Like so many bees, this is the only place I can!

It's been so hard not to call her up today and be like, "HE WAS TRYING TO ASK YOU FOR YOUR BLESSING LAST NIGHT WHY DIDN'T YOU TALK TO HIM ARRRRGGH!" Haha. My poor mom...

repip21-- He had class last night and "left early" to go there because it was raining. I'm seriously hoping he may have gone to see her. But I think I'm just dreaming. Ah well. Soon!
