I’m totallly at a loss for what to serve for dessert this year. I’m hosting 10 people in total.
Pumpkin Cheese Cake
Chocolate Ladyfinger Torte
I’ve never made the Ladyfinger Torte… and wouldn’t make both a pumpkin pie and a pumpkin cheesecake. Ideally, I’d make two or three of the options…. I’m thinking it’s either: Pumpkin Pie, Cheesecake, Creme Brule or Pumpkin Cheesecake, Creme Brule, Chocolate Torte, or Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Torte. hmm… I definitely need a poll!

I’m hosting 12 people and I’m having 2 pumpkin pies, cheesecake and an assortment of cookies. I am sure my other baking friend who’s coming will bring something yummy too but this always seems enough.

I would eat every one! I never am around that stuff, so they all sounds amazing!

Pumpkin pie for sure! Then a cheese cake too if you can!
The pumpkin cheescake sounds delicious, but you may have someone who love pumpkin and hates cheescake and vice-versa!

@MissGreen: oh man, now I’m thinking I don’t have enough!!! I’m thinking I will nix the creme brule because I don’t want to get stuck with a bunch of left over creme brule and that’s much more difficult to pack up and take home.
To all: what’s do you think about Pumpkin Cheesecake vs. Pumpkin Pie? I guess I’m bored with pumpkin pie – but I don’t want to disappoint any purists that may be joining us…. guess I need to poll my guests. That way – I can do a Pumpkin Cheesecake and the Chocolate Torte… that sounds about right to me…. ???? for now 🙂

@Eva Peron: oh good point. and, pumpkin pie is so easy, it’s a no brainer. And – now that you mention it – sometimes when you mess with a classic (like cheesecake) and add flavors – it gets funky (and not in a good way!!).

No, no didn’t mean to scare you. I’m a baker at heart and my friends and family know when I host that diets go out the window. I love spending that day before baking all day. I need extras to keep grumpy, hungry men at bay till dinner is served.
Edit: If you don’t want to do a pie or worry about a cheesecake try a pumpkin gooey butter cake. It’s the best of both worlds and absolutely amazing and so easy!

Pumpkin pie and cheesecake

Mmm, my 3 votes were before you even listed your ideal combos. I love the first idea: pumpkin pie for purists, cheesecake for those that aren’t fans of pumkpin pie, and creme brule for a fun, ‘adventurous’ dessert. LOL. (I would have a mini piece of all 3…mmmmm.)

Just wanted to update everyone and tell you a HUGE thank you for your input.
I ended up making this cheesecake – which was off the hook insanely good (and easy to make). If there are any cheesecake fans that need a good recipe – this one is amazing:
I also made a pumpkin pie (recipe off the can of Libby’s) and the crust: http://smittenkitchen.com/2008/11/pie-crust-102-all-butter-really-flaky-pie-dough/
I wasn’t completely wow’d by the crust – it was fine and passable, but I think I’m going to keep trying to find that perfect crust.
We also had a mountanous apple pie that someone from work gifted Darling Husband.
I was so happy to have stuck with the basics and not gone crazy trying to pumpkin out the cheesecake or make lots of individual creme brules (it would have been wasted and taken up too much room in the fridge).
