In continuation to this thread for those who have been trying for 6+ months.
While this is a crummy situation to be in, I hope you find some comfort (like I did) with this amazing group of supportive women.
You are all so near and dear to my heart.
Hello-
Looks like i will be joining you ladies.
Some background... DH and I have been TTC going into our 8th cycle. Prior to TTC we were NTNT for about 4 months. In 2007 my PCP diagnosed me with PCOS, after changing PCP's in 2010 my new PCP said she disagreed with the diagnosis, and left me standing there scratching my head in confusion. So I thought everything was fine... obviously I was pretty naive in the whole situation. I havent been temping, but have been tracking my AF and been OK about checking my CM.
I am seeing the RE for the first time on Jan 4th and am freaking out a little. I had a whole slew of paper work to fill out and just finished going through it. I feel like (after reading your updates ladies) I am not as well versed or prepaired for my appointment, but most of all I am just scared they are 1. going to say there is something really wrong with me, or 2. to keep trying for a few more months and "relax and hope for the best"
I was really really nervous to post on here because saying it out loud makes it real...
@panterapeach: Aww, thank you! I can't help but smile and get an extra ray of hope from seeing you on the baby boards with your little miracle!
@cheert16: Hey there! Welcome! I don't know much about PCOS but some of the ladies on this board have it, so I'm sure they will be able to help you with info. I haven't seen an RE yet either, but don't be worried about your appointment. If you have any questions, just ask away and someone here should be able to help you!
@cheert16: if they tell you to keep trying and relax...punch them in the face. The whole purpose of an RE is to GET YOU PREGNANT A.S.A.P & AT ANY COST! They'll be aggressive:) and if they aren't: you've gota be. This is your future baby we're talkn bout:)
@cheert16: Welcome! My family doc just told me to "relax and just keep trying" and I did want to punch them in the fax. However, I doubt an RE would tell you that - getting you pregnant is their job! Good luck!
@cheert16: Welcome to our little group! I'm sorry that you have to join us but you'll find that this group of ladies is amazingly supportive! For your visit to the RE I'd try to focus on getting some diagnostic tests done to figure out whether you are or are not dealing with PCOS or something else so that the RE can move forward with proper treatment. Good luck!
A new thread is good news - flipping through 14 pages of comments was getting a little cumbersome. Thanks, @panterapeach.
@cheert16 - Welcome to our group - so sorry you have to be here. Hopefully your RE helps you out - like other posters have said, it is their job to get you pregnant.
In my world, things are sort of waiting around. I got a positive OPK yesterday and today, so I'm just waiting for the temp spike to confirm ovulation. Then I'm waiting for about three more weeks...
Hope you're all doing well!
Hullo lovelies. :)
Oh how you make me smile. Seriously, just imagining a whole board full of ladies smacking my stubborn ovaries about... oh, it made me laugh. I needed that this morning. Can't they get the frigging message already?
CD20 today... 11 days of high... and a temperature plateau. *head desk*
@jaguar: So sorry. That's ridiculously frustrating. If there's no O this time, will the RE finally increase your dose of Clomid to something more intimidating to your ovaries? Still got my fingers crossed that something will happen for you this cycle - CD20 isn't too late.
@Running Elley: Glad your labs look so good. I hope you get your sticky one soon, you have been through so much.
@MrsMaine: Glad things are finally slowing down for you:)
Today my husbaand called to tell me that his co-worker's wife is pregnant again. She is due in July, when I would have been due. It is so stupid to be upset, but I lost it a little. Any other month and I would have been fine. We had speculated that she was pregnant already, but July, REALLY. I want my July baby, I want it back. I want to go back to early November whenI was going to be a hottie July mommy. Urg, I hate 2011 and the whole month of July.
@MrsMeNow: I'm so sorry that it's been a rough day. I've been having an emotional week too, one of my best friends has a due date within a week of my original due date in March and seeing her in the third trimester right now is super rough. I feel you. How are you doing physically? Have you been cleared to try again?
@Running Elley: I am having my HCG drawn tomorrow and then we do my work up. My doc said only one cycle off so we can start this cycle. This period was really bad. I originally was going to throw caution to the wind and if we got pregnant then so be it, but I am kind of glad I had this period just to get rid of all the old lining. Fertility friend freaked out when I put in all my info from the last month and a half, so I guess it is back to square one charting wise.
@MrsMeNow: That's exactly what we did after my first MC and I totally felt the same way. That period was killer and I just knew then that I was so glad that we didn't end up pregnant! I had to create a new account with FF after each of my MCs because it freaked out on me too. It's really frustrating but I'm just starting to establish a real pattern again with my most recent account and I'm sooo glad. Good luck tomorrow!! Let us know how it goes!
Thanks so much ladies for the warm welcome. I am happy to have people to talk about this with (as we havent really told anyone in real life that we are TTC) its nice to have the support of people who understand.
I think the hardest part is not knowing exactly what is going on... I am nervous for my RE appt, but also I will be relieved after to know what the issue really is (whether it really is PCOS, or what...)
@Jag: Checking in from DC to give you hugs, girl. I have no doubt we're going to get those ovaries going soon...no one deserves this waiting thoufgh..Least of all beautiful wonderful you. I can't wait until those ovaries push an egg or 2 out...I'd be HONORED to be pregnant with you!!!
Thanks to everyone for your wonderful support. It would be easy to read a pm and doubt myself if not for you guys. Sometimes I really really think that I'm a bad person and that's why this isn't happening...You guys give me sanity. You'll never know how much that means to me.
I am so excited to meet Septcabride tomorrow night. I already love her and I can't wait to hug her Sweet Girl neck..,,Ya know?
@panterapeach: thanks for opening this thread and your comforting words!
@cheert16: welcome! i'll have my first RE appt Jan 11. i totally feel with you! i can't wait to get some answers but then i'm so scared just thinking about what the answers might be. good luck!
@jholler25: enjoy your meetup with spectabride tomorrow night!
@jholler25: You're a wonderful person, I'm glad that you have us to remind you! Have a blast tomorrow night!! Take some pictures so we can all drink with you in spirit ;)
i posted this on the charters thread but it's very quiet over there so I thougth I would repost here. please excuse if you've seen my chart and question before.
could you please have a look at my chart and let me know if you agree with FF regarding my O date. i'm charting with two different programs and the other one tells me that I o'ed on CD 15 and not on CD 13. i'm not sure which one to believe.
the cross hairs from FF would line up with my EWCM and CP but not so much with my temp shift. i think the temp shifted CD16. previously i've never ovulated before CD 15 (see green stats) and my LP has been between 13-15. i assume these facts would also suggest that I o'ed CD 15 and not CD 13. I didn't use OPK's this month. what are your thoughts?
@elchalten: Hmmmm I can see where you're confused. I put a lot of stock in CM and for some reason my gut says that FF is right. I would say that your temp shift was just pretty gradual.
@jholler25: Have a fab night with the girls tomorrow. You deserve it! :)
@elchalten: I agree with Elley - the EWCM looks pretty telling, when you combine it with your temp change. Looks good to me.
@elchalten: I agree with FF, too. I might even say CD12. It's hard to tell without OPKs, though - my fertile CM sometimes stops right before O, but FF will try to match your CHs with CM whenever possible.
Have you tested yet??? At 16 DPO I would be going crazy!
@elchalten: I agree with Elley. One of my good friends had a gradual temp shift just like that and got her BFP at 8 DPO according to FF. Have you tested yet?
@jaguar: Glad I could brighten your day a little bit. What's the verdict? How long are you going to wait until you ask for provera? I'm a little biased because it would be awesome to be cycle twins with you. ;)
@jholler25: You'd better be telling us all about your meet up!
So ... this might sound a little crazy after I've been so gung-ho about IUI in January, but I'm wondering if we shouldn't hold off another couple months. My sinus headaches have been driving me up the wall lately and an ENT recommended surgery back in Nov. We've been waiting until we could upgrade our insurance plan to lower our out-of-pocket cost, but even with the new insurance deductible, the surgery is going to use up all the money we've been saving for IUI. Basically, I have to choose: Either IUI or sinus surgery.
If I choose IUI and I don't get pregnant on the first try, we'll have to wait at least 1-2 months to save up for another. If we do get pregnant, I'll have to wait for the sinus surgery until after I give birth, which could possibly mean 9 months of sinus headaches. If I get the sinus surgery, we'll have to wait at least 2 months to have enough money for an IUI.
We could still try femara alone if we skip the IUI this cycle, I suppose. But ARG, such a tough choice! What would you do?
@bunny: Honestly, I would have the surgery. Sinus pressure can be intense during pregnancy, so I am not sure I would want to spend 9+ months aggravating the pain and dealing with headaches.
@bunny: I agree with @septcabride: I would have the surgery and continue with Femara alone. You don't know how pregnancy will affect your sinus headaches, and you could be in a whole lot more pain (along with all the aches and pains of pregnancy!) than you are now. The good news is, like you said, you can still try with Femara while you make this choice and save up again for IUI. I'm just a big advocate of "fixing" everything that needs to be fixed when you have the chance.
@septcabride: Give my girl Holler a big huge hug for me today! You girls have fun :)

Well, I'm pissed. I've always had a terrible immune system and I catch every little thing that goes around. I used to seem to always be sick. Well, I haven't had a full blown cold/illness for A FULL YEAR. I was so excited that I hadn't gotten sick yet this winter, because I have terrible asthma and a head cold can easily send me to the emergency room. Well, lo and behold, I caught something over Christmas and I'm here feeling like I'm dying in bed. I'm still miscarrying so these two things combined are taking everything I have! Even worse, DH and I have FRONT ROW ENDZONE to the Pats game this Sunday, so I BETTER be okay to go! (Any bees watching the game - look for us on TV!) Anyways, just needed to vent about that. I know I'm not around much lately but know that I'm lurking from the sidelines and cheering each and every one of you on!
@MrsMaine: Oh no! Stay in bed, drink lots of fluids and feel better soon! I'm sure you'll be recovered enough for the game on Sunday.
@MrsMaine: @septcabride: Thanks for the feedback. That's kind of what I was leaning toward, but for the last two weeks I was dedicated to getting the IUI and I feel bad about changing my mind. I've had these sinus troubles for a few years now but they're not that bad, so it makes me feel like a wuss that I'm opting for surgery, which will no doubt be expensive.
@elchalten: O my, I would definitely be testing at 16 DPO! Can I be excited for you??
@bunny: Ugh, that sounds like such a tough decision. It's easy for me to say as an arms-length party, but my gut feeling is that you should go for the sinus surgery first. But you definitely don't need to feel badly about changing your mind and waiting for the IUI a couple more months--that doesn't make you a wuss! IMO, that decision takes even more courage because it means possibly delaying something you want really badly for a little while.
@MrsMaine: Oh, it sounds like you're taking one thing after another. :( Ugh, I'm sorry for everything you're going through--it sounds like a lot (which means you're a really strong person to be able to handle it all). Sending good health vibes your way! I hope you get lots of rest so you can go to the game on Sunday!
@bunny: Ugh what a horrible decision to have to make!! As much as it kills me, I agree with the other girls. One of my very close friends has had sinus issues her whole life and she's entering into her 3rd trimester now. The sinus stuff has been KILLING her this whole pregnancy. She was really miserable with headaches and constant congestion and just horrible stuff (she was having to try to sleep sitting up!) for the whole first trimester. So, if it was me, I'd do the surgery first :(
@MrsMaine: I saw that on FB this morning and I feel so bad that you've come down with this! Try to get as much rest and sleep as you can so that you can make it on Sunday! Also, make sure that what you're eating has a lot of iron in it. During my last MC my iron was so low, with your immune system being down too it's really important!
Any bees who've taken prometrium or progesterone of some kind, what side effects have you had from it? I generally don't have any issues but we upped my dose this month and I am having really bad AF cramps. I don't usually cramp until the day that it shows but it's not due for another 2 days and I've been going to bed with a hotpad every night this week. Sooo I'm wondering if maybe it could be related?
Im interested in what side effects people have had from the prometrium. I had an iui this morning and have to take prometrium starting monday....
@missmegan11: Other than the cramping I'm having now (which I'm not even sure has to do with it) it really isn't bad. The rise of the progesterone that it causes just usually means (for me) sore breasts, occasional headaches...basically anything that could be related to PMS or early pregnancy. Fingers crossed that your IUI is successful :)
@Running Elley:Will definitely up the iron. I'm hoping this is some 24-48 hour bug and I will be over it fast! Although my throat feels like knives :(
@bunny: Thanks! I sure hope so :)
@MrsFarmer: Thank you. What is that saying? You don't know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have? It is SO. TRUE.

Also, while I'm at it: I have decided that I am not going to be a very pretty pregnant person. I have blown up so much in this last month that I look like I gained 15 pounds. Not like I'm gonna care when I have a baby, but when I don't have anything to show for it this time around, it makes me angry. Ok, vent over. I'm going to take a nap!
Thanks everyone for looking at my chart. FF it is then. Eventhough i would prefer the shorter LP of the other chart. i think i'm back to using OPK's again next month.
i haven't tested yet because I know that our chances of getting pregnant right now are tiny, tiny. I rather see AF than a BFN. my temp dropped to CL this morning and I'm now fully expecting AF. i hope I'll see some improvement regarding the strenght of the bleeding from my acupuncture sessions. what acupuncture has done for me so far: moved my O day forward and dropped my temp before AF's arrival. usually it would stay elevated well into the next cycle (til CD 5/6). i take both as a good sign. sorry, TMI, but i'm so ready for a big, fat, bright red, 3-4 days long period. AF - please show your face!
@bunny: wow, that is a hard decision to make! the other girls had so many great imputs, i think i'm with them and would get the surgery first.
@MrsMaine: i can't believe this. does it ever end for you? as if one thing would not be enough. arggggg! please take could care of you!!!!
I am beyond annoyed. I called my RE's office yesterday to schedule my HSG. They scheduled me for next Friday. Then I get a call saying they need to re-schedule and send me to a different office. So, now they can't see me until Jan. 10, which is CD 13...ideally HSG should be done around 6-7. They have not cleared it with my doctor but they think it should be fine. I told them I usually O on CD 14-15. Here's the kicker, you have to abstain until after the test. I guess they are figuring I haven't been KU yet, so why would this month make a difference. I'm so annoyed. If they saw me on Friday like we planned, we could BD all weekend. Now we'll basically have 1-2 days. UGH! 2011 needs to end ASAP!! Sorry for the long vent
@elchalten: Oh, I so feel you. What I would give for a nice, long, heavy visit from AF! (And, no, my 17-yo self would have never imagined me saying that... sad what TTC does to us!)
@bradybride: That is incredibly annoying! FWIW, my doctor told me that the abstaining is so they don't flush out any healthy swimmers, so you might want to ask why the wait. I am having a lap/HSG in February and it is crazy how hard it was to schedule (hence not until Feb) - my doctor does surgery 1 day a week and there is only one week per month (post AF, pre-O) that I can be sure it won't be washing away any hope of a baby. Sigh.
@bunny: Don't feel bad about changing your mind! I could tell your mind was pretty much changed by your first post and it all totally makes sense. You need to take care of yourself first!
@bradybride: You could hold it off until next month to get the right timing? But even if you go on 13 you should be able to get a couple of good BD sessions in so don't worry about it!
Alright - I'll give you the abbreviated version of my appt today and then I'll write a blog post...
Today is CD13 of Clomid (50mg) Cycle 2. Last month I had 3 follies and my lining was a 6.
This month I have 2 (although one is really small) 19 and 13 and my lining is a 5.
I was lucky and the actual doctor did my ultrasound instead of a nurse and I still really, really like him. Afterwards he said that the chances of a pg sticking with a lining under 6 is practically 0. (He seriously said that! But so nicely...) SO...he said he wanted to take more control of the situation which is good.
Verdict: vaginal estrogen tablets, ovidrel trigger shot tomorrow night, IUI Monday.
I'm glad i have a specific time for everything, but sad that I'm not responding perfectly like i want. But the estrogen should quickly boost my lining (I guess you can't take it until you have a good follicle because it can inhibit growth) and I know we'll time things right.
So that's where I'm at.
@Mrs Green Grass: thanks. I spoke with the nurse (who is really nice) and she said the same thing. I think I've hit my first breaking point....I was crying before she called and then basically burst into tears on the phone with her. She said this is going to be the hardest thing you have ever done. But she was super sweet. She is putting me on a list in case they have any openings.
Sounds like your doctor is great. It's always good to be able to handle not so great news and I think a huge part of that is the way they deliver it. It's so nice leaving with a plan that feels manageable. Did your doc say anything about acupuncture? I feel like some ladies on the board had their lining respond well to acupuncture.
Did I mention in my last post that my acupuncturist basically told me yesterday with my FSH level my only hope is IVF? I can take the news but her delivery and bedside manor were not what I needed, especially when I'm paying her $65/session.
@bradybride: I started acupuncture last week...so I hope it works! That's no manner at all. Some people do not get it!
