Good Luck! Let us know how it goes. I’ve never really heard any success stories on the Adkins Diet.

I did atkins many years ago and lost lots of weight fast….about 25lbs in 8 weeks.  (I was running daily also).   It was nice to slim down, but it was so unhealthy!  I hope you find a better way to handle that diet than I did.   By the end of 8 weeks, I was weak, starving, cranky.  So then one day I ate a piece of bread and gained 35lbs.  πŸ™‚

I guess I can’t talk to you into resisting fad diets and going for smaller portions, healthier foods and regular exercise?!  πŸ˜‰  Goodluck no matter what you do!

I’m interested to see how it works for you. I do know a few people who have used it to lose weight rapidly. It does work from what I understand, but personally I’m not a fan. My mom was on it for about a year & got very sick – her Dr’s blamed her nutrition.  I’m not really an Atkins fan – I like South Beach better since it allows you to add some healthy carbs back into your diet after only 2 weeks restriction. Good luck! πŸ™‚

@ loveandacademia – that’s great to hear! My mom did it a long time ago so it’s good to hear they’ve updated the diet. Last time I read it – basically you could eat as many bacon cheeseburgers you wanted as long as you didn’t touch the bun! LOL

Just be careful if you’re also working out while doing this diet.  You need carbs for fuel to workout, so if you don’t have the carbs to burn, you will feel extra tired.

the only other recommendation I have for you is to be very carful with all the extra protein intake. Lots of Protein in your diet is good but too much can really hurt your kidneys. Watch for kidney stones and such. This is very well known for diabetics who cannot have a lot of carbs/sugars. Protien slows the process of carbs/sugars into your system. Just watch for pains in the kidneys.

Good luck! My Mom’s ex boyfriend, now one of her best friends, does Atkins and he loves it! His only downfall is sodas, and I think everyone has at least one downfall. Unfortunately, mine is bread. Lol.
