And I found this dress, and fell in love.
It’s from the Alfred Angelo Disney collab, Jasmine style 215. Here’s what it looks like in the stock photo:
And on me!
The sample was a bit small for me, so I have some lumps and bumps where I don’t want them, but otherwise I think it looks great! I’m also just in love with Tiana 224. The sample fit me perfectly which was amazing because I’m a size 22, and it just made my curves look awesome. I was really happy with the sweetheart neckline, which surprised me!
Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture in this one! But the sample was 25% off, and I really had to resist to not just buy it on the spot. Next week, I’ll be going back with my best friend and my mom for a second opinion!
Anyways, this is just a message to any other plus size brides-to-be: don’t be scared to go dress shopping! I posted a thread here a few months ago about being terrified to start, and I put it off for months, and when I went yesterday, it was pretty much the best experience ever. I can’t wait to knock my FI’s socks off when he sees me a year from now! So happy right now. =)
I’d definitely recommend Alfred Angelo to any other curvy brides! The selection was awesome, they had plenty of samples in my size and the prices are really reasonable. It was great knowing that they had sample sales even for the plus size brides!

I love the Disney dresses (I was a plus-size Cinderella 205 bride). They are so princess like and make bigger girls feel so good. You look great! I really love that Tiana dress, makes me wish I could pretend to be engaged and go try it on haha

Did you go to a signature store? I did and had the best experience too! I was really dreading it as a plus size bride but it was great. Can’t wait to see what you pick!

I have been debating going to Alfred Angelo (there is one about a block from my work too!). Is it similar to David’s Bridal? More high end? I just can’t get a grasp on what to expect from it so I have stayed away! I know that sounds little silly but I have never heard of them before moving to the area. Your dress looks beautiful, I love the gold detailing!
Congrats on finding an awesome dress!

@Lyndzo: I love the Disney dresses too! They are so romantic and I’ve always loved Disney movies, so it really did make me feel like a princess. My friend went with me and she is getting married in 2015, so she tried on some. The Cinderella 205 was one of them, and I loved the sparkle. So pretty!
@futuremrskmk: I did go to a signature store, and I can’t recommend it enough! The experience was not pushy at all (which I was scared of), really great selection and sales, and I felt totally comfortable the whole time. Not once did I feel insecure about being a “bigger” bride. I’m going to try to do all of my appointments with the same stylist because she was just fantastic!! Now, I just hope I’ll be able to make a decision…hehe

@zimme1sm: I would definitely classify Alfred Angelo as a bit more high end than David’s Bridal. I walked into DB and browsed dresses without actually trying them on, and I liked the selection and quality at AA better. The materials felt more luxurious, it seemed more personal, etc. You should check it out for sure!
Also, it doesn’t sound silly at all! I was really hesitant to go in there, myself. But I’m glad that I did!
@BrandNewBride: Thank you so much! I love that it’s a little funky–totally my style!

@Ms_Pinoy: I totally agree. I had the best experience ever. I put off wedding dress shopping until the very last second because I dreaded it SO much. Ended up buying the 2nd dress I tried on, though I continued to try on dress after dress lol
