This is the final vote. No more! I'm going to get things set in place firmly and want to know how many Georgia or even neighboring bee friends we have are coming!
Here's the plan.
Weekend of the 19th of September.
Time: 1:00 pm brunch at Murphy's in the VA Highlands. Afterwards we're taking a trip to paper source and going to see if we can (need a number though of those wanting to take it) have a class (s hould be somewhere about 30 bucks or so) to learn HOW TO DIY INVITES, STD'S and everything! They'll also throw in a few perks for us too!
You don't have to come to Paper Source afterward (it's down the street) but I can tell you that in just 15 minutes at that store I learned a wealth of new DIY ideas and they have been amazing!
So..what's the day and are you coming and do you want to do the class at paper source?
Ok. Who is coming? Bumping up for the busy workaholic hotlanta area bees and our outlying metro friends!
Saturday or Sunday, and I will want to do the class! I guess I should just pick a choice. :p
Edit: I voted for Sunday. I'm excited!
Yes please let me know which one.
Now I know that there are a few advantages to a sunday meet up such as:
But these are my silly opinions and I would be happy either day too but I voted sunday.
I'm in for the 20th and will do the class (even though the wedding is over and I already make liners, bellybands, and the such....it's always fun to have an excuse to play with fun paper!)
Belle - once we have a date firmly selected could we get Pengy to post something so anyone not currently active on the boards could see there is a meetup? Do you ever see Driftslikesmoke around...I haven't seen her online in ages?
That's a good idea GGSB. I've sent one notice to somebody here about making this notice a tad bigger!
I'm glad you're in too! It's fun and I also plan to use the new skills to be able to jazz up our Christmas cards! Always something happening and an event for some cool invite! Even after you marry, you'll be having dinner parties, birthday parties, anniversaries, maybe even a shower for a relative or close friend and of course one day...a VOW RENEWAL!!!
I don't have an exact figure yet but it will be somewhere around 30-35 bucks I think. But we have to have a certain amount of attendees to have the class, otherwise we'll just go over there and maybe shop and see a quick demo or two!
Either way we'll have fun after brunch.
I'm on a budget too! I just figure if I learn how to do something well, I save money in the end.
I'm all about taking the class, but having to reign in the budget. I'll vote sunday, no class. I am down for demos though.
That's fine. The demos are short and no one on one usually though. Would you mind voting on the top b/c when I take the final count I want everybody's poll vote in there so we can decide what to do. '
Would everybody want a class or see if we can have a free demo? Again, there's a huge difference between the two things and I have to know what most wish to do. Either one is fine by me. I just have to get this thing nailed down soon!
I'm about 4 hours away, but would have liked to come...
Our couples shower is that Saturday and FI is getting baptized at our church on Sunday. Enjoy ladies!
awww....we'll miss you liztwinz but those are 2 VERY good reasons to miss :)
Just making sure our GA bees know the fun is around the corner!
Would everybody be ok if we just did a demo or two for free? I can get that probably accomplished! That way all can come and we don't need a head count for our field trip to Paper Source!
Ok. I am really leaning towards this one so here goes.
The paper source class is now going to be a "field trip" walking maybe less than five miles down the street to the place I heart so much! Paper Source!
That way we don't need a head count and no more $$ needed. Mind you this won't be anything one on one but I'll see what I can come up with and have it related to invites, lining envelopes, and maybe STD's? Maybe one or two demos? Not sure what we'll cook up but we'll have fun.
Did I mention their brunch is yummy? They feature produce from area farmers and I think it's organic! They even have an all veggie plate that is so yummy too. Their bloodys are amazing! We'll meet at one and after brunch around 230 we'll walk down the street and hang at PS for maybe an hour or so!
Who's in?
Oh wow, I wish I could eat all of that!!! I already know what I'm ordering! Thanks for organizing this, Bellenga!
That is not a good thing to look at while hungry! :p
Mmm. Shrimp and grits...
ooh count me in. :) :) yay!
ahhh i want to go!!! i don't know yet if i can... by when should I know?
edit: lol I am actually in Clemson SC, not in Charleston... if you were confused :)
Belle - why don't we just have them do a few demos so it's easier to schedule? When do you need a head count for Murphy's?
That's my plan GGSB and what's going down as I said ealier but I need a head count for both by Sunday the weekend before...what is that date? I'll have it on the boards and kinda noticeable I promise!
I actually need a head count for both because it's still good to be able to have a big enough table at murphy's and it's going to be important for Paper Source to know exactly because they don't really have to do anything for us at all, and just a special courtesy. Again, it's NOT A CLASS, just a demo. But still they'd like to have some people actually there for the demos.
I appreciate everybody responding and hope all of you are having a great week!
Just wanted to let ya'll know..I'll here off and on for the next few days. I'm getting bronchitis and now my son's got it.
All we need to know is who's coming to brunch and to the demo by Sunday the 13th! You all have plenty of time to decide what you wanna do!
Hope everybody has a great week and weekend and a happy holiday!
In the meanwhile, what are you gonna get at Murphy's to eat?
Aw, hope you and your son feel better soon. I've been glaring at my coworker one office over that loudly (and proudly) proclaimed that he has strep throat, then proceeded to work the whole day - he JUST left. Grrrrrr!!!!
I'm not allowed to eat much, so bacon and eggs for me. But I'm okay with that! :)
Thanks Layla. They got a lunch menu too so you can check that out also! I am wild for their vegetable plate which is all locally grown and organic. Good for folks like me who want to lose their extra cushioning!
I can't stand it when people spread their funk and aren't considerate.
50ft: I feel just the same as there it's all good! My son swears their burger is the best in town though.
I'm so sad that I can't come!! We actually have stuff to do up here in Kentucky that weekend :-(
Bumping this up for ATL and GA bees!
Today I had a bit of time on my hands since we're not going to savannah all weekend so I used some scrap cardstock and my corner cutter and made little place cards for us! Tried to dress them up w/a little embossing and some cute corner cutters!
I'll be bringing with me m "5 second centerpiece" that I whip out at a last minute notice for parites and use with vases in varying heights (will only bring 1 though) and how to do the other variation with the carnation ball on top also! If you hit a Michael's sale (hint: they are having a 40% off coupon right now you can use on sunday!) this can be literally after you break it all down a 10-12$ centerpiece!
What will you be bringing with you? Any DIY ideas? If so be sure to print out at least 10 copies of your idea! Let's have fun discussing DIY ideas while we have the yummiest brunch in town!
Um, I'm an idiot.
September 20th is our anniversary. (face palm)
I'll have to get back to you...
Pateetong Laylabelle! We'll be done fairly early in the afternoon! Plenty of time for that romantic evening with your honey!
I just finished off printing centerpiece information so everybody can have two variations of the same centerpiece and it's not expensive to re-create at all! Either of them!
Just wanted to say Hi to all the hotlanta and GA bees before game day and before the concert in Centennial Park today (Collective Soul's free concert..we're going and taking little guy! His first concert!) so check this thread out and BEE there for our get together!
And a background on the word "peteetong". It's an atlanta phrase that actually made the urban dictionary. Here's the definition in case you were wondering what the heck Laylabelle and I were doing greeting each other like that! It's a phrase commonly used on a radio show in ATL and men and women alike use it when they call in.
Here's some atlanta "phrase-ology" for you! I just know that somebody will say that to T and at at our wedding as a celebratory word and greeting! It is also used as a "hey, hello, or how's it going?"
definition:(pet-tee-tong) 1.) a verbal salute used as a greeting or at departure 2.) a word used in celebration popularized by Larry Wachs, of THE REGULAR GUYS, a popular radio show in Atlanta,Ga. The word originates from a call by an inebriated listener refered to as "Stoner Mike" a self proclaimed wordsmith/catch-phrase creator. The word was stored to the Regular Guys soundbyte library and is played at various times throughout the show, as well as a remixed version at the end of the show.
As in: "Hey Guys, peteetong!""Peteetong to you sir/ma'am."
I'm sad....
You'll have to count me out of the Bee party. :( :( :(
The 20th is Chattanooga's big Bridal Show and I didn't even realize until today that was the date. :(
*tear*
I want to coooooooooooome! But I can't, because even though I'm an Atlanta girl at heart, I live in Lexington (if only for a few more months! Keep your fingers crossed!).
How would saturday work out for everybody?
Could more attend if it's saturday?
Just wondering!
I am bumping this up as we need to get a better head count and I need to make plans for this!
Who's ready? I am bumping this up b/c I need as much feedback from the GA and surrounding area bees about this! We're going to have a bit more attention later in the week (you'll see) about our soiree!!!
FYI..I REALLY need a head count b/c we need at least four or five people MINIMUM so I can make it worth Paper Source's while. They're really sweet and if two of us show up, it's not really justified imho in having anything scheduled with them as far as a demo goes.
