My fiancee and I have been together for over two and a half years, but it feels like we have always known we were meant to last forever.
Since I just finished a run of a big musical, my schedule was a little freer and my man decided to take me out on a nice romantic date night in our favorite spot! (Narragansett Beach, RI).
After a supremely delicious meal of lobster ravioli and a bottle of cabernet sauvignon (so classy 🙂 ), and a lot of romantic, and loving reminiscing, we were going to go for a walk on the beach. Now, keep in mind it’s January 29, and New England literally had the worst snow ever this winter! So off with the heels and on with leg-warmers and rainboots!
We walked together, held hands and looked out over the rolling waves and glittering ocean next to us. We stopped, and kissed, and he told me he loved me through tears…and then….suggested we go back to the car!
I will admit, I was sad that the night was over, but I had NO IDEA what was about to happen!!! He pointed off down the beach, past where we had just walked at what looked like a plastic bag. He asked me what I thought it was, “Probably garbage.” I said, and walked over to pick it up. When I did, it was most definitely not garbage…it was a dozen, gorgeous blue roses (my favorite, and flower of choice when he first asked me out!)!!!
I turned around to find him on his knee. He held my hands as I started to cry tears of joy as he asked me to marry him! “YES!” I practically yelled! He had just enough time to slip the ring around my finger before I threw myself, and consequently both of us into the sand, into his arms.
He had his three best friends hiding, and they captured the whole moment! Another surprise…he had booked us a night in a Bed and Breakfast where my best girls were waiting with champagne and a party!
It truly was the best night of my life!!!
