So thanks to some lovely little bees, I sent some “how to get engaged” websites aimed toward the groom and he’s reading them RIGHT NOW. And cracking up. That’s an excellent sign, considering I’ve seen nothing but panic up and to this point. Whoop!
How did your boy react to beginning discussions of things like oh, I dunno, getting engaged? Ring shopping? Asking the parents?

How fun!!!! M has said some pretty cute things like he would size my finger while I was sleeping with a ring guard or that he’d try my right-hand ring on his finger to see what size i wear. but when i asked him if we could go look at the ring tomorrow at sam’s or zales where his best friend’s wife’s work he says nope (insert rolling eyes)….

That is so clever sending him those links :o) My boy just reacts like it’s an everyday conversation. There is no sign of panic or anxiety, it’s like he already knows what he wants to do, he’s got it so planned out he doesn’t want anyone to know not even his mom, until I know. It’s sweet but a hint wouldn’t hurt :o)

That is a good sign! Definitely a good sign.
About six months ago, he tried my right hand ring on his pinkie (his hand is so much smaller) and on both pinkies and thought he was being very smooth and said “so..if I had to guess you wear a size six?” I said no. About five to five and a half. My guy is a financial whiz and the kind who won’t bring something home unless it’s 100 percent paid off..which should be soon! Clark Howard would be so proud of him!

@bellenga how hilarious about the pinky ring thing! I totally was playing with M’s hands yesterday and slid my right hand ring on his pinky and he kept it there a while then teased that my ring was so small he’d have to cut it off to remove it and I was like not so much my ring isn’t small that’s a 7 and it’s slightly too big!!

Nice job! I leave so many hints around like that and they get deleted

Yay! That is so exciting! My guy reacted really well. But, he had been hinting around marriage since we hit the 1-ish year mark and I’d been putting on the brakes (just wasn’t ready for marriage in general yet). One of the things that I’d always told him is that I don’t believe in living with someone before we’re engaged. So, late this past winter I started talking about buying a house at some point soonish, and he said that he’d really like to wait until we could buy it together. Sometime around the spring it clicked that I was finally ready and he was IT, so I casually mentioned that when his lease was up in Feb 2009 maybe we should start looking at houses together. Needless to say, he was happy and (it seemed) immediately started moving the gears towards researching engagement! Now I know he has a ring and I just have to wait for it!
