I feel in love with a veil a David's Bridal but it was $150 and I only spent $75 on my dress (used on ebay) so I really couldn't justify it. Though it was REALLY hard taking it off and walking out of the store without it :(

I also found Venus Veils on ebay. They had the same veil 2t beaded scallop edge elbow in ivory for $22.00 with free shipping!! It came in within a week. It is a slightly lower quality than the one at DB (the beads are smaller...but it is such a small detail that it would be hard to see unless you compared the two VERY closely) but it is perfect with my dress. I definitely recommend this seller.

I like making my own so it can be just how I want it.

Plus, I have already changed my mind twice about the veil.  It's a lot more affordable to do this when they only cost $10 in supplies tops!

I am selling a chapel lenght 1 tier white veil.  I bought the veil from another bee a few months back, but then ended up finding a cathedral length veil that i am going to wear instead.  The veil is beautiful and simple.  Please email me if interested bridget_124@hotmail.com  Thanks!  I will also, have the cathedral length white veil has jewels throughout and white trim on the edges for sale after July 24th.

I made my veil for $25.

But it is very simple - cut edge, single tier, no embellishments - and my dress is very elaborate!

I made my ceremony veil for $10, and my reception veil (feather/tulle comb) was given to me for free by the bridal salon.

I got not one but TWO pronovias veils off e-bay - they are pretty similar but one is the longer cathedral length I prefer. Each was around £150.

I will probably use the second one for naughty bedroom fun...so well worth the money

I spent a ton..but I thought maybe that was just how much veils cost anyway...

I am definitely trying to stay under $100... I am only going to wear it once, and for about an hour!

I'd initially thought to spend about $30-50, and ended up spending $299.  It was worth it for the veil I got (imo); it's got silver floral hand-embroidery all the way around, and beading both accenting the embroidery pattern & running all the way along the edge.

I had originally planned to save money by making my own veil, complete with silver embroidery & some beads.  In the course of practicing, I discovered that I find the silver thread stiff & hard to work with on a drapy fabric like tulle; that the big holes & small threads of the tulle are a lot harder for me to embroider on than normal or cross-stitch fabric; and that at 1.5 inches done in 6 hours, this was not a sane project *for me*.  So I tried to cling to the DIY savings but make it saner by switching fabrics -- surely the fabric district in Philadelphia would have some nice ivory English Net, which has smaller holes & larger threads!

Nope.  None of the fabric stores there had English Net in ivory when I went, and only a couple had any English Net at all.  :-(  I had given up & was walking back to my car when I happened to pass a little independent bridal millinery shop.  The lady who runs it was so friendly, so helpful & patient, and so in love with what she does and with weddings in general.  Her sister runs a little wig shop next door, and their mom stopped by while I was looking through the catalogs they had... it was just the kind of small business that I felt really good about supporting.  So I tried a few veils on, still not convinced I'd buy one... and fell in love with the veil that I've got now.  She had to order it in the ivory -- I'd tried on a white one, but my dress is ivory -- but if I didn't like it, she had a written full-refund-if-returned-for-any-reason policy.  When it came in, she kept the shop open late so I could still get there from NJ to pick it up after getting stuck in several traffic jams.  So even though it was *way* more than I'd meant to spend on a veil, I ended up having a really good experience with the purchase, and I *love* the veil.  It's so much nicer & more intricate than I would've been able to make in my spare time!

Small business ftw, in this case!
