- Wedding: September 2013
I took on this project because I love the clean, unique, finished look a pocketfold invitation provides YET invitations are not important enough to me when pocketfolds are $5+ a pop and we’re inviting 200 people to our wedding.
All paper materials were purchased through cardsandpockets.com. I HIGHLY recommend them for all your paper needs. They were efficient, affordable, and I got my paper WAY before I expected it.
All the materials(glue, wax, etc.) were purchased from Hobby Lobby.
When I started this project I was full of confidence. I made 15-20 pocketfolds for my friend’s bridal shower so I thought “I’m a pro at this. How hard could it be to mass produce these?”
Thank you Jean-Luc for adequately displaying how stupid that thought was.
This project was hard and frustrating and time consuming….did I mention frustrating? I honestly did not comprehend how much work this would actually be.
This is not to dissuade anyone from doing this because I’m happy with the results and my pocketbook is happy with the price but if this is a project you’d like to take on I recommend having a well thought out game plan and several helpers.
I had a moderately well thought out plan and two helpers.
Meet Reilly and Keagan….The Help.
So let’s get started. You’ll obviously need the paper you want. You can buy this stuff from any hobby store and cut it yourself but honestly….
You’ll also need acid free glue. I purchased Martha Stewart craft glue because it was on sale and I’ve used it on other projects but I DO NOT recommend it for this. It’s a very……wet…glue and if you don’t put the exact right amount it has a tendency to dry dark. You’ll also need something to seal your pocketfolds. Belly bands, stickers, wax, etc. I chose wax. It was mainly because the wax kit was on sale and it was super fun to play with.
After several hours fooling with the printer I finally got my first trial to print out.
Oh…this is going to be a long night.
It was tiring but he stuck with me the whole time.
However this guy is a traitor….
*I got the template from weddingchicks.com. They have a few really nice, straight foward templates. And they’re FREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
