I did my own.  I used the Urban Decay Naked and Glinda palettes for my eyes.

If you think black eyeliner is too much, what about a medium brown?  Urban Decay has a warm, shimmery taupe one called Underground that is one of my favourites and looks very soft on.  For ease of application and comfort wearing them, I used half lashes instead of a full strip.  You could also try individuals but I couldn’t be bothered with them.

Using primers (face, eyeshadow, and lip) as well as a finishing spray will also help everything last throughout the day and night.

if you dont like eyeliner maybe try tightlining. basically you use the pencil on the upper waterline but going between your lashes. its not as harsh and makes you look like you have fuller lashes.

i would say try something more simple if you dont wear makeup everyday.

i find that pink blush always look great 🙂

For the wide eyed but natural look, try using a black eyeshadow and using an angled liner brush to just press the colour into the base of your lashes. It will make your lashes look way more full.

These are all my favorite products:

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation (this is pretty full coverage so let me know if you don’t need as much coverage)

Smashbox primer

Urban Decay shadows (The Naked Basics palettes are good for neutral matte colors. Naked Basics1 is for warm tones, Naked Basics2 is for cool tones)

Tarte blushes

Rimmel Stay Matte powder

Ardell false lashes

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

NARS Audacious Lipsticks

Maybelline Master Drama eyeliner

MAC Pro-Longwear concealer

Revlon Kissable Balm Stains

Vivi30:  For my wedding I used Maybelline Baby Skin primer, but right now I’m really liking Too Faced hangover primer.  For eyes I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance, and for lips Mac Prep & Prime lip.  Also Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray.

I also think brows are very importand.  I just use eyeshadow and a wax pencil on them, but a tinted brow gel would work as well without looking too overdone.

I’m doing my own too… my makeup set is not minimal, but it works for me! LOL

Primers- Spackle by Laura Geller (forehead only, that’s where my fine lines are), Smashbox Photo Finish Primer (all over), Urban Decay’s eyelid primer (came with my Naked2 palette)

Skin- Dior Airflash Spray Foundation (too pricey for daily wear *for me*), LORAC bronzer, Tarte blush in a light pink, Bare Minerals Mineral Veil to set, Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray- final step (LOOOOOOVE this stuff)

Eyes- IT cosmetics eyebrow pencil, BareMinerals eye shadows in Soul (highlight/under brow) and Celestine (lid color) with a Cynthia Rowley matte shade of grey in the crease, Revlon eyeliner in grey (I need something softer too), one coat of Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara then two coats of Younique Moodstruck 3d Fiber Lashes Mascara (I’m allergic to most lash glue and this lets me have longer/fuller looking lashes- I considered extensions at one point.  It does take some time getting used to it though.)

I haven’t decided on a lip color yet…

I did my own.  My friend, who is a MUA at Ulta and Benefit consultant was supposed to do my make-up, but Ulta ended up making it manadtory for her to work on my wedding day for a launch of Benefit products, so she gave me lots of goodies to do my own makeup with & some of these were my own personal make-up.

I used: (most of these are Benefit brand)

Pore-fessional

15-hr stay primer

Benefit “Breathe” foundation

Hoola powder for contour

Flash face for highlight

2-faced primed and poreless setting powder

Amazing cosmetics concealer

CG Blush

ELF Neutral eyeshadow palette (I did a neutral dark brown matte smoky eye)

Rimmel eyeliner pencil

Lancome Rouge in Love lipstick

ELF lengthening masacra

False eyelashes.

I’m not sure if I’ll do my own, but I did my own for a wedding I was in recently. I used:<br />Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation, tarte amazonian clay blush (SO worth the price – get one of the christmas sets, they’re such a good deal), Urban Decay Naked2 palette, A Nyx pencil eyeliner in black-brown (plain black pencil eyeliners turn my eyes red for some reason and look to harsh on my fair skin), Benefit They’re Real mascara, Urban Decay setting spray in de-slick (it was July, it was hot and humid, I have combination/oily skin), Loreal Color Riche Caresse Shine Stain in Rose on and On

It lasted all day (aside from the lip gloss which I had to reapply) in humid conditions. Although, I rarely use my Naked2 palette anymore – I much prefer the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette (the colors Silk Teddy and Push Up alone are worth the price of the entire palette!) and Naked Basics for most occassions – they give a nice natural polished look. I also really love the ELF mineral primer (the clear one).

In terms of color palettes it all depends on your coloring!  I did my own makeup and I don’t regret it.  I have brown eyes, and I’ve always liked the look of purples with brown eyes.  I didn’t want it to be too overwhelming purple, so I choose really neutral plums.  I had a neutral plum eyeliner, and used the smashbox eyeshadow trio with sepia, antique, and dirty plum grey.  It looked GREAT in pictures!

I normally don’t wear eyeliner, but for pictures it really does make your eyes pop.  I would definitely avoid black- it is too harsh.  Instead I would opt for a universally flattering brown.  You can also experiment with grays, and neutral dark greens, blues, and plums.

Definitely experiment!  I tried everything (sersiouly- I frequented Sephora and racked up quite the cosmetic bill during my engagement), and after testing out all the really expensive products at sephora highly recommended on here, I found that for most things I actually prefer cheaper alternatives.

I used L’oreal primers (the magic perfecting base is AWESOME), concealor, and mascara (tried all mascaras and keep coming back to the Power Volume 24H or the original)

Smashbox eyeshadow trio

Sephora 12h wear waterproof eyeliner

Sephora lipstains (they are awesome)

Everyday minerals matte foundation and finishing dust (their matte foundation is one of the few that look great in flash photography and is perfect for my sensitive skin)- Everyday minerals has FAR better makeup than bare essentuals at half the price

Revelon blush (again… searched all the expensive lines and came around to this)

Elf bronzer/blush duo

Elf setting spray (very similar to Urban Decay, but better for sensitive skin, and at 3 bucks it is definitely worth a try!)

I got married on a humid hot July day, and my makeup stayed all night!  I used a few oil blotting sheets, but besides that no touch ups were necessary.
