Wedding in 11 days here. Having some dress drama. Need some thoughts.
Bought my dress in March. It’s a beautiful, Maggie Sottero Zendaya. The sample size fit me pretty well, was a bit tight, but for some reason the sales person assured me that I should order the same size in the new dress (me being stupid, I agreed). I am a size 12 in regular clothes – they ordered me a 16
Fast forward 2 months later, the dress came in. And to my surprise, wouldn’t even ZIP. Wayyyy too tight. The ladies at the store were not very helpful and just told me that either 1) I gained weight (didn’t happen), or 2) the sample size was stretched. Well if it was stretched why didn’t anyone recommend for me to order the next size up? UGH.
I left there in a panic but still had 3 months until the wedding. So I am now dealing with alterations with one of the best in town. First time I went, I was super bloated and the dress fit me even worse. So we waited 2 weeks and I went back. It fit me better and only had about an inch left to zip. He let it out (he is hesitant to let it out too much because of all the detail). Just went back yesterday and he let it out, IT ZIPS NOW! but I have the dreaded back-fat problem and it still feels way too tight around my ribs. It now fits me well in the waist and below, and the bust is ok (maybe even a bit big).
SO now I am feeling upset because I feel like I look crappy in it. The back of it is just too tight and it makes me roll over 🙁 I’m not skinny by any means but I don’t usually have this problem. He is going to check out the seams again and see if there’s just a BIT more give and I’m going back on Monday. But I have my doubts. He also doesn’t want to put a corset back into it because he says it won’t look good.
I don’t know what to do now… my wedding is in 11 days and I am not happy with the dress 🙁 I LOVE the look of it from the front. I just hate the back! and unfortunately everyone will be looking at my back at the ceremony!. I have a long veil but it’s rather transparent so it won’t cover it up too much I don’t think.
Anyway, just wanted to get some opinions. Are there any other options if for some reason the dress CANNOT be let out more??
I don’t know why the seamstress is acting like it will completely ruin the dress if we add a corset back. He said if he can’t let it out anymore then I will just have to wear it like this and apparently they stretch over the course of the day??? Maybe I just need to put it on 8 hours before the wedding?? (haha!)
