I have been there and thought it was kind of dumpy….primarily the room.  Let me preface this by saying we have rented a nice condo in PV before, so I was kind of spoiled. I have also stayed in many other all-inclusive hotels in various locations that were much nicer for less money.  Also, the Dreams Resort in PV is kind of far out of town and bit of a drive from the airport.

Are you interested in staying in PV?  Or are you looking at all the the Dreams’ properties??  My husband and I honeymooned in PV.

We’re honeymooning in Puerto Vallarta! We will be at the Casa Magna Resort by Marriot, all inclusive. It’s right on the beach and looks gorgeous! I haven’t heard of the Dreams

OMG , I am so happy you mentioned PUERTO VALLARTA! I have the most perfect and romantic Bed & Breakfast there!!!

It’s called *Casa la Ventana*!

BEAUTIFUL place and great American Hosts. It’s away from all the tourist crap in Mexico and in a local village off the water. It is right outside the city so it is easy to take a cab or bus into town when you feel like having a “night out”.

Seriously in my suggestion one of the most romantic and real places in Mexico. Your room is IN the jungle! My fiance and I fell in love here. If you book, tell the host CHRISTINE that ALEXIS sent you. She will take care of you! I am friends with her. Laughing

We stayed at the Dreams in Puerto Vallarta for our honeymoon and absolutely LOVED it!  The older building is a bit dumpy, but I wouldn’t have classified it as horrible by any means.  The new preferred club building is where we stayed and it is much much nicer.  The new building is only a few years old from what I understand.  True, it’s not really close to town, but it depends on what you want to do.  If you want to be in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, this may not be the place for you.  We wanted to be away from everyone, in a nice secluded resort… not smack dab in the middle of downtown.  Also, it’s a short inexpensive cab ride to anywhere if you do want to do excursions.  We went zip-lining and on an ATV tour, but the rest of the time we relaxed on the nice beach.  A bonus, because the resort is set between two cliff bluffs, the beach is pretty private.  There are some vendors that will come onto the beach by boat, but by boat is the only access and that really cuts down on the extra people on the beach.  The food was awesome as well… we really want to go back.

oh, and the drive from the airport wasn’t that far… maybe 20min.  We booked our honeymoon through the dreams site and our travel to and from the airport was included.

I’m actually heading there next week for a friend’s wedding.  I’m pretty excited about it!  I can let you know how it is when I get back.

the pictures of the resort and beach look beautiful! we have looked into Dreams Riviera Cancun (preferred club) and think it looks nice, I’m just concerned about children as some of the reviews have talked about.  we don’t mind kids at all, but people said kids were starting to take over so that makes me think twice

@kiddosc: did you have any issues with a lot of kids?

@chickeybarr: Sorry, I was out of town all weekend and forgot to check back.  We went the week after labor day, so there was hardly anyone there.  I suspect it had to do with kids just starting back at school.  There were lots of scheduled activities for kids though that we saw on the handout they distribute each day… there’s also a designated kids club area, so maybe they wouldn’t be taking over the resort.  The adults only pool and whirlpool were the nicest at the resort anyways, so we mostly hung out there.
