I have begun planning for our wedding which will be in a early spring time month in a rose garden. Whimsical, romantic, light, victorian tea party. Our color pallette is vintage rose, gold, white/ivory.
so I have started the daunting task of searching for a dress. I am a very indecisive person when It comes to my clothing and find myself more so now. I tried on the Alfred Angelo modern vintage 8504 and fell in love with it. I felt it really had the idea I was going for but when I look at the pictures…it photographs horribly. I Do not like the way I look frumpy in this dress. i am 5’3″ and 128 lbs and definitely curvy around the hips and rear. I want to show off my figure that I have worked so hard over the last year to transform. I tried on several fit and flare dresses and love the way it hugged my curves and teen the volume to make me still feel like a princess (yes, cliche).
Fellow bees please help!

I actually really love the dress you posted and it 100% follows the decor of your wedding. I don’t think it makes you look frumpy at all, but if you want a smoother line I think it’s just a matter of some nice shape wear.

I think you made a great dress choice! Keep in mind the dress will look different in pro photos. There is a link stickied at the top of the dress board where you can see some of the differences:
Hey all you Married Ladies….Can I see your Before and After Pt 2!
I do not think you look frumpy in the dress.

I think that dress is gorgeous and perfect for the wedding you described! Definitely not frumpy at all. Pro pics are going to look vastly different than the ones you took in the salon (and TBH I don’t even think that pic looks bad!)

You have so much time before your wedding I would keep looking. How about a lace fit n flare
gown? Something that fits your vintage wedding but shows off your shape…

@Luckyinlove: welcome to the hive.
your wedding is still 18 months away. you can still go and try on other dresses. this dress does not look frumpy on you but if you are not feeling beautiful, it’s not the dress. if you liked the way the tighter ones looked, go with one of those.

@Luckyinlove: You look so beautiful in that dress!! It sounds like you’re craving a more fitted dress – something more fit and flare or mermaid even. Have you tried those yet?

My sister went to a wedding this summer and the bride wore the same dress. I’ve seen some guest photos and pro photos and that dress (appears to) move beautifully and all the photos were gorgeous!
I think it looks lovely on you!

@kakers: Your comment about movement is so important, I think. I love flowy dress that trail gently on the ground, perfect for a rose garden wedding.
I look at some of these super tight mermaid dresses and I can’t help but picture brides waddling in completely unattractive ways down the aisle. I’m sure it’s all in my mind, though.
I would want a dress in which I can move in a natural way.

I think that dress is gorgeous on you and totally fits your theme!
If you are interested in a more fitted dress that is still flowy take a look at Sottero & Midgley’s Clarice dress.
The model pictures dont do it justice! Search Clarice on the bee an you’ll find a few brides would show it off better.
