So, I’ve created a list of things I love, hate, and could compromise on in my wedding dress. Would you mind helping a Bee out? First some stats:
I’m 5’3″, street size 18, my budget is $1300 (although less would be better, this does not include alterations).
Here’s my list, any dresses come to mind?
Out of my price range
color other than white
excessive amounts of pick-ups
huge ball gown
definite stopping of bodice to skirt
bows where there shouldn’t be
Zippers where there shouldn’t be
random gathers of fabric
Vera Wang dresses
excessive emphasis on the bust
Things I can compromise on:
Small accents of color other than white
flowers, if tastefully done
2 straps, or perhaps a shrug
lace (not all over)
A little bit of pizazz, either on the dress or a sash perhaps

Have you gone through weddingshoppeinc.com? They have thousands of gowns and you can pretty much sort by most of what you are looking for. I bought one of my dresses at their brick and mortar store and they have a GREAT selection.

First of all, I think you need to remember that you can add straps or a shrug to any strapless gown- so don’t rule them out
Second- if you want pockets, it is going to have to be a natural waisted ball gown. Those are pretty much the only style gown that accomodate pockets. here is Casablanca 2007:
Here Casablanca 2067- it has a decent sweetheart but you could always add a piece of modesty paneling in between:
Alfred Angelo 2229- I think this one is different- reminds me of an Ines Di Santo gown…
And this is Allure 8756:
and allure 2450:
its difficult becuas while you gave a lot of definite no’s you didn’t give a lot of detail about what you actually want…

The thing is, other than my no’s…I really don’t know what I want…I’m so difficult…But I LOVE that Allure 2450! That’s gorgeous

I would go in to any shop just to try things on and see what works well on your body. I went in think something with straps and modern, and came out with strapless lace.

Ok, this one would need to be altered from a button closure to a lace up, but I think this one would be great.

@Elliemae27: Ooooh, I like that one. It’s beautiful. I wonder, is it even possible to change to a lace up?

@love108: Wow, I never would have thought so, but I think I like this dress! I will try it out. Thank you for pointing it out!
