this is easy, all the styles i thought i wanted, i HATED on me! i thought i would give anything for a nicole miller simple beach dress, but when i got to try it on, i realized i had to find something different.  her dresses only looked good on the skinny models i saw them on!

here was one of my top contenders

I wanted something flowy, Grecian-inspired and non-strapless but none of them worked for me.

I was in love with this Jim Hjelm dress, but in person the lace straps were weird and the dress just fell flat

I wanted an empire waist flowy gown, but quickly discovered that every single one made me look pregnant. This one was a top contender until it wasn’t. lol I still think it’s gorgeous, just not for me

Anything which was a ballgown style, I just don’t have the height nor boobs to carry it off. I felt like the dress was wearing me, rather than the other way around!

on the pretty model:

on me…:

I loved this on the model, but when I tried it on (the sample size was my actual size so I had a pretty good idea of how it would really fit) it definitely drew waaaay too much attention to “the girls”. Not right for a Catholic ceremony! My FMIL said I’d distract the priest and my FSIL said I looked like a porn star, haha. Sorry, don’t have any pics of me in it but here’s the model:

Before I tried it on, it didn’t occur to me I should stay away from that much sparkle/beading on the bust.

I’m gonna have a very intimate small wedding, so I was looking for something simple and elegant. I fell in LOVE with this dress, but when I saw it in person, I dont think Id be able to pull it off. First of all it LOOKS like a Mermaid but its not, its an A line dress, which I hate. Second the V neck was too low, and Im a busty girl it would have been inappropiate, The v neck is also low in the back, and youd be able to see my bra.

Even though the dress was affordable, Id pay $$$ in alterations so Id be more covered up. If I were less busty I would have worn it. SIGH 🙁

Im happy w my new dress anyways.

Mori Lee 4524 – i saw it and fell in love – tried it on and loved it but came to the conclusion im a little too short and busty for such a full gown,

Gorgeous J Crew dress. I held on to this dress for like three months, trying to love it but it just was not very flattering on me at all. I felt gross when I put it on. I eventually took some pictures and realized it didn’t make me look as huge as I thought it did, but it still wasn’t the dress for me. It would have needed alterations to either add straps or make it fit better because it slid down when I moved and I wouldn’t have been able to dance in it. Also, the lining at the very top would sort of fold over and become visible, which would have needed more alterations or a ton of fashion tape. Not worth it!

Prior to dress shopping there were two dresses that i was convinced I would love.  I was positive that one of them would end up being my dress, but when I finally had the chance to try them on… ehh…. I didn’t love them like I had expected to.  They were both beautiful dresses, just not for me.

My first love, Watters Sonora.  I so desperately wanted to love this dress, and it just fell flat on me.  It kind of overwhelmed my frame, and hit me in weird places.  I still think it’s an absolutely beautiful dress and i’m excited to see it more real brides.

Amsale’s Coco, which I did really love, but realized that I didn’t really want a ball gown:
