    So ladies..

I have a friend who is really absolutely awseome at cakes and shes done a few of friends of ours. She isnt a professional baker and her last wedding was a bit stressful a 3 teir wedding cake well that you would want to rip your hair out if you were the baker. She did however pull it off!! and it looked absolutely amazing and tasted really good!

She has agreed to do our wedding cake which we are absolutely stoked about and well do know she is capable of anything but I dont want for it to be crazy stressful for her.

So does anyone have any ideas of a relatively 'easy' cake in regards to looks and stuff or something that she can mirror? she needs ideas as well im not a great cook or decisive on whats 'easy'

can anyone suggest anything or have inspiration pics? Our colors are orange and red and gold. Or is there any cake wesbite youve seen?

    I  absolutely appreciate any help!

    Many thanks

    Charis.

What about just going with plain white frosted cake and then doing sugared fruits or edible flowers to decorate? or even fresh, organic, pesticide-free ones? Then she doesn't have to 'decorate' the cake necessarkly, just stick some pretty stuff on it

Well don't go onto Martha Stewarts website for inspiration!  I looked at them and they were all beautiful but I think they may be difficult to pull off, without stress that is.  You could always have her do a 3 or 4 tear cake with white fondant and just put some fresh flowers in the reds and oranges.  That would be so stress free and would look amazing!

Definately. Easiest thing to do it make cakes in different sizes, large to small, round or square, and stack them for tiers.  You'll need to use wooden dowels to put through the layers for stability if it's a large cake.  Then frost it plain white. or add some orange food coloring to vanilla frosting for an orange cake. Add fresh flowers, to stick out between each layer and then a bunch on the top.  Simple simple simple :)

This one's pretty, too. Just dots and a ribbon and flower on top. I like simple cakes, personally http://www.projectwedding.com/photo/browse?photo_to_show=16868&tag=cake+red&thumbs_page=5

Smething like this looks easy to me!

Something like this sound be pretty easy - you can use buttercream or fondant icing and two different widths of ribbon.

Those are my exact colors: Apple, Tangering, Gold Accents, and lots of bling!

You may want to ask her whether she would prefer an easy design.  Some bakers get really bored with ones that don't require a lot of creativity.  Maybe the two of you can sit down together and talk about what you like vs. what her skill and comfort levels will allow...

greenleaf. I have done the back and forth and the 3 teir was her limit on comfortability.. I just wanted to chose something easier for her.. as she is a guest and not a vendor. As I havent been researching cakes I just had no idea were to start.. so the websites links are helpful and the piccies!

    Thanks, ccranetobe...so do you :)

My cake is very simple. Where the bling is in the pics I will DIY some edging for it. I will take some orange ribbon and attach a narrower red in the middle of it and then add rhinestones in the middle of the two ribbons. I will use it to wrap around the edges of each tier. I am also DIYing my own monograms for the top. I will only have 3 tiers and the middle one will be sideways.

    Here it is

Alot of the wedding cakes you see on marthastewart.com are actually done with stencils.  You can buy the stencils for most of her cakes at www.designerstrencils.com and they do not look too hard to use.  Here is a website that shows how it is done...  http://cakecentral.com/articles/138/how-to-stencil-on-a-fondant-covered-cake-video  Stencils are definitely am easy way to get a beautiful cake with lots of detail, anything like these are stenciled cakes and you can then have them done in any colors you want
