I have a rich blue in my living room (i know, crazy!) and a very pale blue in our guest bedroom. I can check the paint cans later if you'd like. We're adding wainscoting to the living room to help break up the floor-to-ceiling blue, but i'm really pleased with it.
Oooh, I like the color of the lamp! lol! I'd love to hear the name of your guest room wall!
I have a blue kitchen and love it! It is a pail blue and our kitchen cabinets are the color of the bed that you have in the picture. It is so clean and crisp looking. The photo here is before the granite went in (can't believe I don't have a more current one) :) I also have the blue with cream cabinets in the utility room. The two rooms flow together. I have the dark bed like yours and our walls are two shades of taupe with a blue comforter and accessories. I actually just bought a different comforter this weekend because I have had the same decor for 4 years now and need a change! I would suggest going on to HGTV and browsing for photos that you can use as a go by. That's what I did with the kitchen
I love your bed! Where did you get that??
That's funny, I love the same dark furniture, and I am looking for for a light blue/grey exactly as you describe - (see bottom corner of my paint swatches).
What colors have you tried so far? I'm leaning toward Behr's - Saltwater, or Benjamin Moores Blue Ice.
A friend of mine said Behr Misty Blue was a nice light blue, but I thought it had a pretty strong green tint to it.
With such dark furniture, I think a light grey blue would be awesome! and I LOVE grey!! Our living room is grey, but in reality it is in the blue family, beacause it is a pale grey. I can't remeber the exact color, but it is by Behr.
I LOVE it & so does everyone who sees it!
@ejs- you'll love the white on the walls to break it up. I have cream and green in the living room. It was all almond including the ceiling and crown molding before. Major difference!
@pinkshoes: You may have my color is your swatches! It looks like it may be the 2nd one on the left. I know the first color is "subtle grey or subtle ___" something. That color was waay to light on our walls, so we went the next shade darker.
@vintage, ooooo i can't wait!!!! I've been wanting wainscotting every since we put it up!
@AnnieAAA: Do you know the name?
@pinkshoes: your swatches look just like mine!
@vintage2010: What blue's do you have? Trust me, HGTV, BHG, Houzz.... you name it, I have thousands of inspiration but I can't find a match for the life of me!
I've tried - Benjamin Moore; Flora, Montpelier. Martha Stewart Arrowroot, and Behr Ice Folly
We used Sherwin Williams - Martha Stewart's Winter's Day (I think). But I painted the room 4 years ago, not sure if they still sell that color. Its a beautiful light blue-gray and I get compliments all the time on the paint color. We also have dark furniture.
I just found this website... which of course colors may vary by monitor but I like it!
http://www.materials-world.com/paint-colors/behr/behr-colorsmart/colorsmart-index.htm
@texasmeredith: Oh, i just found some images of winters day online! I'm going to swing by and check it out!
@Bostongrl25: cloudy day looks good too! The website had some nearby swatches that look promising as well...
Oy, If only I could figure out this as well as my office color.... :(
Get Benjamin Moore Feather Gray - you won't be disappointed, trust me! :)
Oh I love the Feather Gray suggestion!
Or this Stonington Gray color is great, too:
I am liking this feather gray.... I just with B.M. wasn't so far out of the way!
@KLP2010: I think if you have the paint color info. home depot or lowes can color match the benjamin moore paint.
I think it's unfair that your color only gets to be in the laundry room, and his is the bedroom! ;-) But seriously, I think a muted blue would look stunning with that wood finish. Good luck!
Oh that gray is pretty!
I don't have the can of light blue anymore, KLP. I think i threw it out b/c it was empty.
@crayfish: Technically, we're probably painting the kitchen green as well... and the dining room is already a shade a green but that's going to one day change.... and my office was going to be green... so really, my color was everywhere so I promised we could have the "right" blue in the bedroom, lol.
@KLP2010: It may be far out of the way, but it would probably be worth it, especially since they have little samples you can buy so you can try several colors if you want.
Get a swatch of Feather Gray & any place will be able to color match it for you :)
I have blue in my kitchen, it took me a while to find the right blue as well (and I accidentally painted the kitchen bright teal in the process!)!
The color is Silview from Ace Hardware (d-39-3) I love it... It's a soft blueish gray but very warm still. We have black and stainless appliances in our kitchen and I can say that it looks great with dark colors too (we are getting dark counters soon!)
The blue we have is Valspar at Lowe's and it is called lighthouse shadows.
I have a blue bedroom. It was painted that way when I bought the house a few years ago so I don't know the exact color. And it's the only room i haven't repainted. Here's a picture. I have darker furniture as well.

This is from an upsacle furniture store in my area.. I think the blue hues with your dark funiture would very nice.
I haven't had a chance to get to the stores yet, but here is one of my favorite inspirations thus far.
(sorry so big)
@Bostongrl25: I have that swatch on my table! I think I might try that one out. Do you have pic of your room with this color?
Have you looked at a "Williamsburg blue"? It's a muted color. I love it!
Here's a picture of our bedroom. I think it's actually a grey with lots of blue undertones... but it could work. I can't find our can of touch up paint right this second, but if you wanted to know the name I could look harder.
ETA - pic's not coming off my camera properly. Will come back later. I even made my bed to get this shot :)
We just painted our kitchen "surfer" by Behr.
I don't have pics but here is a photo of someone else who used the color: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2482655350099943306LflXVk
A light gray blue would look great with that furniture. Then you could add a punch of clour with yellow or purple pillows!

I am just completely stuck! I promised DH that we could have a blue bedroom. He loves blue (I don't) and I got my "green" in the house in our laundry room.
We have dark furniture so I want to keep it "light" on the walls. I've been trying to find the right "blue" for the room. I thought I found it on YoungHouseLove.com in their old house but when I found the swatch I learned it's actually more "green" than blue.
Here's the room from while we were moving in. There is also a dresser and chest in the room. Our bedding is a dark silver grey.
So, I'm trying to find this perfect light icy greyish blue... and I can't find one anywhere. I've painted 3 different samples to the wall I thought would work and all of them didn't. Does anyone have a blue they like they wouldn't mind sharing? I've also considered some of the nice deep blue's out there that are slightly jewlish... but I'm thinking that would be too dark....
