No, not that F word!
Fiance. Do any of you girls have problems or feel uncomfortable calling your other half ‘fiance’.
It’s just such an uncomfortable word to say and it sounds very strange/awkward coming out of my mouth. Whenever I am introducing him to people I usually just end up calling him my boyfriend or future husband. Fiance is just such a foreign word for me.

Yeah I always felt pompous lol

@chelles07: It was always weird for me because I felt like it sounded like I was fishing for people to ask about the wedding or with my unmarried/unengaged friends I felt like it sounded like I was rubbing it in their faces. Husband sounds much better now and my husband actually agrees. He said he’s much more comfortable saying wife.

@Mrs. Guinness: This is a shortened version of what I meant.

Mr. Tattoo tells people I’m the “Future Mrs. [insert last name]” I just say his name and then maybe future husband. Sometimes I say the F word.
It is a weird word because you don’t use it for long. Maybe that’s why? Like boyfriend/girlfriend is a title that you have for a while usually, and then husband/wife are titles that you have for life. Fiance/fiancee is like a title for less than a year. I don’t know.
Sometimes we use it, sometimes we don’t.

Lol, I don’t mind calling him my fiance to other adults. But try explaining what a fiance is to 3-year olds. I just left a job in a daycare center where I had a picture of him on my desk. I finally gave up and just started calling him my prince. They understood that one.

Yes, I rarely used it. It always felt pretentious. I was SO relieved when I could finally call him my husband.

I didn’t have any problems with the word fiance at all. I had more trouble with the word boyfriend before we wre engaged. But husband is still my favorite word!

Hehe yea. We pretty much referred to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend until we got married. Which confused some folks, but it’s SO much less awkward to say “husband” now.

Fiance and I find it to be really weird and awkward. Well, we did more a couple months ago than we probably do now.
It’s especially difficult because we are used to sometimes calling each other ‘Girlfriend’ and ‘Boyfriend’ as sort of pet names. ‘Fiance’ just doesn’t work.
We’re looking forward to ‘Husband’ and ‘Wife’, both of which just have a much better sound to them.

Ya I hate the word for some reason. It sounds so fancy smancy so not me lol. He calls me his future wife and vs versa. I cant wait to call him my husband for some reason that doesnt seem as weird lol

Yes, I often say partner. I love it, they think I’m gay. It’s funny, and I don’t say HE (or SHE) for that matter, the looks I get are awesome… But I don’t do it for that reason I do it becasue I don’t like the word fiance.
To younger folk I use the term “boyfriend.”

I refer to him by his first name as often as I can, but sometimes you just can’t. Honestly, I just call him my husband sometimes. Best example: Last week, I was on the train and Fiance was meeting me so I saved him a seat. As he was walking toward me someone asked for the empty seat. I pointed at Fiance and was like sorry, my husband is sitting there. I just feel weird saying fiance!!

yes, i HATE that word! I feel like it diminishes our partnership and cheapens our relationship. we have been together for over seven years and it just sounds so flippant and juvenile to me. I usually call him my partner or spouse or just use his name.
Of course then everyone thinks we are business partners, or he is my same sex partner (which as a huge marriage equality supporter I just see as advancing hearts and minds, lol). This has actually been in part what prompted us to just get married already–I can’t wait to call him my husband!

Yeah I don’t really like it either. I do use it over boyfriend though. I was getting sick of boyfriend too before we were engaged. We own a house together, have 2 dogs, have been dating over 4 years and are 30 (OMG I think that’s the first time I’ve typed that 🙁 ) and 31, it just seemed strange.
