Fiance and I have been discussing adopting a dog recently, and I indicated that I really, really wanted a puppy. We had planned on waiting until he purchased our home and then think about getting a new animal…alas, fate had a different plan for us.
My parents live in an area that is common for people dropping off strays. (It’s heartbreaking and sad; 2 of our dogs are actually strays that people have dropped off on our road). Yesterday, Fiance and I took my sister to my parents’ to get her clothes packed to stay the night with a friend. Lo and behold, there is a puppy crouching in a corner of our garage, scared to death. My heart broke and I knew I could NOT just let this puppy wander away. I looked at Fiance with the most desperate, pleading look I could manage, and he sighed and said, “yes, we can keep her.” AHH! I am so excited! I took her to the vet this morning; she’s 6.7 lbs and 13 weeks old! She’s a tri-color beagle and absolutely ADORABLE. (She really only has two colors; the only place that has dark brown is one spot on her tail…it’s so cute!) Without further ado, meet the last little furry member of our family….Ginger!
This is her behaving SO well at the vet. She didn’t whine at all when they gave her shots; I was impressed! (However, arriving home proved differently, says all our furniture.)
This is our very first picture of her. She was so scared, but managed to be calm.
She won’t go in her crate, but she’ll lay 10 inches away from it on the ground. Silly Ginny.
When I say she loves her daddy, I mean she LOVES her daddy. So sweet.
The vet said she was underweight, had worms, and an allergy to fleas (there are scabs on her belly and the underside of her arms) but we got all her medicine and her special shampoo and she’s good to go now! I am so happy! Eep! Fiance is the absolute best; he payed for her collar, leash, water/food bowls, toys, food, and vet bill!! We are so happy that our family is complete!

@Eva Peron: Yeah, I know! The poor thing was so malnourished when I found her. I don’t understand why someone would dump a BEAGLE, but it could be because she’s a girl and they didn’t want to get her fixed.
Oh well, their loss is my gain! I am so happy to have her!
