I'm going out with my 3 BMs on Tuesday evening and we've narrowed it down to 3 dresses.....but I'm still stuck between 2 colours. Please help me choose a colour. I had been thinking I'd go with the lighter blue (Malibu on the David's Bridal website) but I'm not sure anymore. Could it seem a little "young" for me (I just turned 30)? Does the tie look a bit fruity on the guys?
I do like it because it's more "summer-y", but the darker blue (Horizon on the DB website) just seems like a safer bet and might photograph better. I really just like them both.
So, could you please help me decide?
FWIW, our flowers will be white and blue (not sure what shades or flowers yet, I'm not too picky) and the wedding will be on June 2 but will be mostly indoors. The girls range between age 27-31 years old from a size 0 to maybe an 8 (they are all slim). FI says he doesn't care what colour tie the men end up with and to get whatever we like. The girls like both colours and say it's up to me. Oh, and I'll be trying to get them white cardigans and a blue one for me. :)
Halp?
Here's our "picture" in Malibu:
And in Horizon:
I personally like the Malibu better, but I might be biased because its close to one of the colors we used in our wedding :)
I think I like the darker color more, it seems a little more classic. I aslo think it might give you more options with flowers. Are you set on the white sash for the MOH?
I think I like the Horizon blue better. For some reason the other one feels very beachy to me...
Both are pretty, though.
@MrsMeNow: Nope, not set on the white sash at all. We're just trying to do something to make her stand out besides changing her bouquet. Ideas are welcomed!
I said darker blue simply because I think most people's skin tones go better with a deeper color like that. For June I think it would be perfect, especially since it's inside.
I personally like the darker color, but that's probably because I chose darker blue for my girls... I don't think you can go wrong with either... Good luck!
@Juliepants: Not that it looks bad by any means, but I think doing something a little bit different with her jewelry would give her a little bit different look, but still keep them in the same dress. I don't know if I have really ever noticed a different sash in real life or not, but for some reason on the DB mock ups it just always sticks out.
@MrsMeNow: Ok, thank you for your advice! I'll have to check out what it looks like in person first and see what she wants to do. She's the one who has to wear it afterall!
I chose the darker blue (Horizon). The Malibu reminds me of the beach, which isn't a bad thing, but might not go with your venue.
I LOVE the darker blue. I think it's so classy and more timeless.
The lighter blue makes me think of Tiffany blue - which strikes me as more trendy than timeless.
The style of the dress vs. the color makes me think summer.
And, picking either color would be age appropriate, IMO.
the darker color is my preference. looks similar to my wedding color :) both are nice though!
Haha, tricked me! You look great in the "pic" though! ;)
I like the Malibu, I think it's so fitting for a summer wedding.
I'd say the darker blue!! But, it'll probably look a wee bit different in real life though!
I vote for the darkest blue as well, its more classy in my eyes.
I like the Malibu but mostly be because the darker blue reminds me of my school colors... lol
@Aure: Haha, I'm sorry about that. I wanted people to vote on my otherwise boring question. :P
Here's the dress pic from the website if it helps anyone help me decide!
I love them both (both of those blues, plus white, were the three colors of our unity sand :), but I prefer the lighter color for your spring wedding, as it is very similar to my bridesmaids' dresses. By the way, I think this color looks great on the guys, too; however, my DH and all of the groomsmen wore traditional black tuxes with tails and white shirts, white vests and white bow ties, so, you don't necessarily have to have the guys wearing blue at all if you decide you don't like them in it. Below is a pic of my bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids in the lighter, Caribbean blue color.

I also love the darker, but I'm biased, since my girls wore a cobalt blue! I like the "coolness" that the Horizon gives. But you can't go wrong, they're both gorgeous!
I'm biased too bc I am using either the Horizon or a cobalt blue for my only BM/MOH:) I am having a winter wedding so this is perfect!!

BUT... for a spring wedding I would go with the lighter one:))
I was in a Malibu wedding last year... It was great and the color looked good on the guys too!
Darker blue! I've seen both in person and LOVE the Horizon color more!
I voted darker blue... but seeing the pics from the website, I say you cant go wrong with either of them ! Once you shop with your girls and they try some on, you'll have a better idea of what you want :)
Definitely like the darker blue. I think the Malibu would wash out any pale girls.
I can't believe I'm saying this since normally i would love the first color and not like the second (not usually a fan of dark blue) but in this case I think the darker one looks great!
Here's a pic from the wedding I was in... It was in May :) I loved loved loved the Malibu color! I thought it was so flattering (and I'm one of the pale girls!)... Sorry for the size of the pic... It's not the best pic, with lots of blurred faces... But I hope this helps you! :)
Hmm can't think of any naturally blue flowers except for irises. Can't wait to see your flower pics!
We're using horizon for our wedding (so I'm biased), but I do think darker looks more mature. The light blue looks a little cheap, young, etc. They look more like prom dresses in the light blue.
I kind of like the light blue better, but I feel like you can't go wrong with the more classic blue color... Also, is there a website that lets you make pictures like that and dress them in different wedding stuff??
@MrsBroccoli: I agree with you, the light blue reminds of of a prom color.
i love ALL blue and I think both would go with your theme and time of the year. I'm partial to the darker blue, I agree with a lot of the girl in saying it's more "classic". I tend to feel like some of the lighter colors feel "younger" or "less formal" or something. I LOVE BOTH!! But my vote is for the darker blue :)
I prefer the darker. It's a color I think would go with pretty much any skintone. I would look washed out in the lighter blue (trust me, I've had to try it on) so yeah. I also prefer jewel-tones and darker colors in general though. :)
I love the Horizon blue. I agree with the PPs...it's a timeless colour!
I love the darker blue - probably because it's essentially what we used for our wedding as well. It looked very classy and elegant on the bridal party. You could also alter the neckline of the MOH's dress if you'd like additional differentiation.
