Ughhhh DH turned it on, and I was completely disgusted. The plot and ideas were interesting enough, but I absolutely despise it when shows/movies go for the gore for shock value!

SPOILER BELOW SO DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE ENDING YET…

We actually ended up getting into a not so awesome fight about it because my DH knows how squeamish I am, and while a little bit of blood won’t bother me, I cannot stand watching/hearing murder scenes, and after seeing Jeepers Creepers I slept wiht the lights on for WEEKS. Yes, I am that big of a wimp and was seriously scarred by the whole eye removal thing. So I keep begging DH to change the channel after the chick kills herelf and they find the dead dogs, he’s arguing and saying I’m not paying attention cuz I’m on my laptop anyways, I finally leave the room after they find the dead bodies in the house and that the girl is missing, because I can tell it’s about to get super gruesome, I’ve gone and let myself care about whether or not the girl survives, and DH is being a stubborn jerk about it. Then the screaming kicks into high gear, and just when it stops and I think it’s safe and stick my head out to tell DH to turn it the hell down because I don’t wanna hear her get murdered…and I’m just in time to see her eye-less corpse get dropped down. Great. Now it’s 1AM and I can’t sleep because every time I close my eyes I see that scene.

END SPOILERS

I just get really annoyed because he knows damn well how much it bothers me, I know he thinks it’s silly and just a TV show, but I can’t help it. Even though obviously I know it’s not real, I have trouble not taking things like that to heart and being totally disturbed by them, and I have nightmares super easily. I work late two or three nights a week, so I really don’t get why he can’t put aside watching his gross shows till then! He’s a horror movie guy so this is a recurring argument for us…although in all fairness he didn’t know how disgusting this show was going to be, it annoys the crap out of me that he argues with me instead of just changing it once I’m bothered.

@HisMoon:  Are you still watching it? If so, what do you think?? DH was uninterested after two episodes and I don’t know anybody else who watches it so I’ve been watching it on my own and it’s CRAZY!

I think Kevin Bacon is really awful.  But I like the storyline.  So I still watch 🙂

@HisMoon:  Good point- I bet she’d initially go for Joe since she’s so devout and then at the last second go back for the child. A friend brought up the point that it’ll be interesting to see how the FBI lady’s role will be since they showed that she grew up in a cult- maybe she’ll turn or something will happen? I feel like I can’t trust anyone on the show to be who they really are.

I think it’s different than anything else on TV right now, I really enjoy it, even if it is super dark! I like that it keeps to one story line, unlike Criminal Minds/CSI/etc. Gets you more invested!

@HisMoon:  She is ultra crazy and she’s definitely a good actress, I believe her! You make a good point about who she would choose…I could totally see this being part of the plot soon.

@caits615: I don’t trust anyone either, makes the show really interesting since new “followers” keep popping up everywhere!

Who watched last night’s episode??

I feel like Emma is going to do something crazy soon- potentially to Roderick.

Where was Joey in this episode?

Amanda (who was killing all the Claire Matthews) is a nut case!!

Excited about next week!

@Wonderstruck:  I’m right there with you. We were looking for a new show to watch, and while I do like shows like Bones/NCIS/etc., I just couldn’t watch this. The VERY beginning of the first episode where there’s blood all over, I was like, “Yeah…this isn’t going to work for me.” Then, the naked lady with the writing comes out and stabs herself in the eye, and I was like, “I TOLD YOU THIS WAS GOING TO BE BAD I’M GOING TO GO THROW UP NOW.”

But yeah, at least my FI respects my extreme aversion to stuff like that. My ex did NOT, and it took me breaking down into sobs during his forcing me to watch Friday the 13th to stop making me watch that shit (though he wouldn’t shut up about it).

I loved Roderick poking at Emma just to screw with her.   I was wondering where joey was too!

@vorpalette:  I can’t normally watch stuff like this either and when things get scary I usually bury my head in FI’s arm. I actually watched the first episode while running on the treadmill and had no clue what it was about but I was caught up on everything else on Hulu, so just decided I’d see what it was about. I almost lost it when they showed all the dead bodies. Yuck!

I’m enjoying it so far! I wonder when they are going to wise up about so many people being connected to Joe – I feel like only one or two people should know the wife’s location and keep surveillance on those that do, so the cops know they aren’t working with Joe/Roderick.
