My husband and I recently were married at the German Society on Spring Garden Street. We fell in love with the space, it’s gorgeous! BUT DO NOT USE THIS SPACE! The staff members were HORRIBLE, they made my sister (Maid of Honor) CRY the day of my wedding because they were so rude, they started construction on the building without telling us…we had to be on them every day up until the morning of the wedding to even have stairs to the building, they LOCKED OUR GUESTS outside who came 20 minutes early…I can’t even list all the horrible things that happened…and they basically refuse to compensate us a fair amount. Despite how beautiful the place is, it’s almost not worth dealing with the horrible staff and unfair expectation they have about how you can use the space. It was SO stressfull and aweful dealing with them.

I am so sorry you had such a bad experience. I hope everything has been only happiness for you two since then!
Where is the German Garden? You never mentioned a city.

WOW that sucks. Make sure you write a review for them on YELP.
@CakeyP I think Philadelphia b/c of her name & googling. It’s a shame b/c the venue looks beautiful.

The German Society of Pennsylvania is near Northern Liberties in Philly.
I’m so sorry you had a bad experience! I have walked by recently and have noticed the awful construction they’ve been doing. Fiance and I passed by a few weeks ago (may have been your wedding day) and we said, “The entrance is so tacky. How could they allow a wedding to go on here with that going on right now?” The entrance now has wooden stairs that don’t compliment the stone of the building and it has an “overhang” that were laden with lanterns. Maybe the bride and groom tried to spruce that area up.

@wedinphilly: Sorry you had a bad experience. I looked at the venue and found the rental fee to be far too expensive for what they offered. Hope you enjoyed some of your day!

@sealevels: Those were our lanterns! I was even happy to have those wooden stairs, up until the day before there wasn’t even anything to get to the door!

@wedinphilly: Also, it was still an amazing day despite their best efforts!
