Ever since I saw the Oscar de la Renta Bridal 2013/14 runway photos, I’ve been pining for bridal gloves. I’ve read many an etiquette snapshot on bridal gloves, but I have not seen a bride wear them since the heyday of heavily princessy accessories in the 90’s. What are you ladies’ thoughts on gloves on a bride? Dated? Inconvenient?
Here is me
Any my OdlR inspiration

I kind of like the look in the first photo. The second photo looks kind of weird to me. Like there’s a bright white outline of her hands. I would also worry a little about covering up the rings or rings snagging the fabric (looks like tulle?).
But if you love the look, go for it. Gloves can easily be taken off if you decide you’ve had enough of them.

Those gloves are very big on you! I know the scrunched-up look is what you’re going for, but maybe try them on in a smaller size without the scrunching to see if they will fit just a tiny bit nicer on your upper arms. 🙂
I think they could look really cool tight to your skin – like an ephemeral mist covering your arms!

ugly. no. definatly not for me

honestly…I don’t really like them, they kind of remind me of latex gloves at the doctor or the plastic ones they use at sandwich shops. The ones you are wearing – if tighter – are the best of the bunch. I really dislike the ones with all the seaming – they just look weird.
If you love them, wear them, but you asked for opinions and that’s my 2cents!

The sheer gloves are gorgeous.

Not a fan of gloves at all. That 2nd pair just looks strange like as pp mentioned the look like latex gloves a Dr would wear
@MsGinkgo: +1 that is what I thought as well

My honest opinion is that it looks like you wrapped your hands in thin gauze. I like the model versions, but unfortunatley making runway trends work is not always possible IRL!

Tough to pull off without looking costumey, and I don’t like any of these. Ditto on the PP’s observation that they look like food service or exam gloves, with the sheer material. Ick. Not good for a wedding.
If your heart is set on gloves, maybe think about satin or lace rather than gauze?

Awesome! Thanks for all the input! Lol @JLR1982:
It’s funny that these evoke exam gloves for so many, since I actually am a doctor and didn’t see that at all. An interesting point.
And as far as looking costumey, I already feel SO COSTUMEY what with the veil and garter and sparkly (costume) jewelry. I worry about tight gloves giving me sausage arms; my arms aren’t exactly tight like a tiger. Lace I would consider, but don’t have any photo inspiration.

I think some things are just better left on the runway

Gloves can work for you or against you so choose wisely.

I discovered during my bridal experience… when in doubt, don’t!
