- Wedding: December 2010
I know it sounds a little cheesy, but despite my doubts that our wedding day would lack that special something because we weren’t doing the whole she-bang, it was still awesome. When I put on my great-aunt’s jewelry and did my makeup and finally, finally got to see my hair when the stylist was finished, I felt like a bride. It was kind of magical, actually…which sounds totally stupid, but it’s true. 🙂
When we got to the courthouse, Mr. Grape and I posed for pictures in front of a tree just beyond the metal detectors (which this pin set off):
Hooray for crookedly scanned pictures and an unflattering angle! 😀
We waited until about 10:00 in the lobby area for everyone to arrive, but had to head upstairs to the courtroom without MOH and her hubby (who did our pro photos–the ones with the little logo, obv). The officiant wasn’t exactly pleased that we kept stalling for time, but we did not want to start without them. Fortunately, they made it to the courthouse safe and sound (winter weather and a lack of adequate downtown parking will cause delays!) just as Aunt-Mom Grape was about to sign the license in MOH’s place. Ma Grape spied MOH and pretty much yelled, “WAIT! STOP!” It totally lightened the mood and made us all crack up.
We said our vows, both of us tearing up a little bit:
Even though there were roughly 15 other people in the room with us, it felt like everything just stopped for a second and we were the only two people alive. And even though we used the standard civil ceremony vows, it was still an incredibly emotional moment for both of us (another surprise!).
And then there was much kissing.
This one is from my mother’s camera…
And this is a pro shot. Way to be handsy, Mr. Grape! I wasn’t even aware of it at the time. This picture makes me laugh!
This is one of my absolute favorites from that day.
Obligatory ring picture. I love the editing in this shot!
After the ceremony and some post-wedding pictures at the courthouse, we all met up at Grandma Grape’s house for some cupcakes and a light lunch.
MOH is such a sweetheart…she played with various Photoshop-y things and made the cupcakes look better in this shot than they did in person!
Candid shot of me totally nomming on a cupcake while DH goes, “Classy…” ;P
Our niece loved the cupcakes, too. I think she looks a little like Disaster Girl in this shot, which made me LOL when I saw it!
After we ate (or was it before?), we took some pictures with Grandma Grape.
Check out that smile. She’s adorable! 🙂
One last photo; my mother snapped this one of my hair when I wasn’t paying attention.
Up next: the reception, and the dismal weather that accompanied it!
