Good morning, Hive! I'm up insanely early because I rode into work with my dad this morning so I wouldn't have to brave the ice.
In our area, we are predicting about 1-2 inches of ice and we've probably almost made it to an inch. The roads aren't too bad, though. They put a lot of salt down, and that turned it back into slush, which then re-froze, but at least it's textured ice instead of smooth!
Go ahead and share what's predicted and what you've gotten so far. Any snow days? :)
We are expecting 1-2 inches of ice and our county is surrounded by counties under a level 1 snow emergency. I am not braving the drive to work because my car sucks on ice so instead am waiting for FI to wake up and drive me in. We work together, so it is no big deal. I am secretly hoping my boss (FIs grandfather) will call us and tell us to take the day off work because so many people drive an hour +
Good luck out in the ice and snow ladies.
The band of blizzard-ness is jusssst missing us. But I wanted to say "BE CAREFUL" to all you bees bravin' it this morning!
We're not expecting the ice until tonight/early tomorrow. Everyone drive safely.
@Miss Mitzie: Oh wow! Make sure your FI drives carefully. I hope you guys had the salt trucks out last night.
Finally heard that the university I attend is closed for the day! It's always the last one in the area (and least likely) to close. The local weather is describing the current conditions as "light freezing rain ice pellets." It's definitely supposed to get worse though.
I have an awesome boss who just called and said we aren't working until 10:30, but call me because we may not be working at all. Well ladies, I get to stay in the safety of my home, but I am still wishing all the rest of you who don't good luck!
@EvaBostonTerrier: I used to go to a high school like that. Every time the weather got bad we made the news because we were still open :P.
@Miss Mitzie: It's great that you get to stay inside!
Ugh. We've had a couple inches so far, and are expecting it to snow until early morning tomorrow. I think at the end of this they're saying somewhere between 6 inches and like... 20!
Unfortunately, I live in Eastern NY and this is no big thing for them so I still have to truck up to work (which is already a 50 minute drive... UGH!).
I guess for once I'm lucky to be so far north! We're not supposed to get any ice, just fluffy snow, and that's a frequent enough occurrence that I don't mind driving in it. No such thing as a day off though, sadly.
In Texas, I was awakened by pelting ice/rain/snow this morning, which is a pretty rare occurrence here. Although the weather definitely isn't as bad as it is up north, it's still pretty bad for Texas winter weather. So much so that they have closed pretty much everything in my area. For those of you who do have to drive in bad weather--please be safe!
Snow on top of ice here and I still have to drive to work in alittle while. Plus, I will be doing it in a rear-wheel-drive truck, ugh. So not looking forward to this.
We were supposed to get hit with some ice last night but its dry and clear here in NoVA! So I voted "what snow?" :-)
Please be safe bees affected by the storm!!
It hasn't hit Maine yet (it will by 4 PM), but they are measuring how much snow we are supposed to get in feet, not inches. Where I live is supposed to get 14 to 20 inches. Yuck...
Here in central Illinois it's not the safest! ALL schools in central Illinois have closed, we are supposed to get like 20 inches of snow by tomorrow. A lot of the school already closed for tomorrow as well to be on the safe side. I woke up at 520am to go to work, and then my boss called and said don't risk it, and call tomorrow morning before you come in, I doubt we will be open. Our whole city is practically closed down. I hope everyone stays safe! :)
2-3 feet between today and tomorrow. in the Boston area.On top of the 3 feet we already have that we have no place to put. It's already started. More like this...

@PitBulLover: Where in NoVA are you? I work in Crystal City, and it's definitely less slippery/icy here than at home (in DC).
@MrsMaine: Saw this on FB today and thought it was so funny! Although, I'm not in Florida;)
We are getting around 6" and up today, and then they are predicting anywhere from 24" -30" tomorrow here in the wonderful upstate NY area.
I'm in the 2 feet of snow between today and tomorrow. I'm at work today but dont plan on coming in tomorrow, since we will have lots of snow when I wake up tomorrow.
@Miss Maine..that is hilarious, because at this point all we can do is laugh...there is going to be about 5 to 6 feet of snow on the ground here all together!
We were supposed to get a massive ice storm. We ended up getting... rain. Regular rain.
I'm not complaining about not getting "Winter Death Hell" as my FI calls it, but it is a little annoying that the weathermen had me so stressed out last night that I could barely sleep.
@judya64: I'm in North Jersey/NYC area and the ice is coming down in buckets.. I just got to work and am considering going home, I slid sideways coming into my parking lot here at work and was going very slow.. Ugh, I hate this crap!
@PitBulLover: @daydreamwanderer: there was so much ice in dc this morning! it took me 5x longer than normal to get to the bus stop (across the street) because i had to walk so slowly.
@daydreamwanderer: I work in Manassas and live in Falls church - there was absolutely nothing coming down and I dont think there is now either! Im surprised DC got anything!
@kitzy: did you see on weather.com it said "hundredeths of an inch of ice accumulation" I was like wtH does that mean!?
We were supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow and didn't get any! But we did get freezing rain so it was a little slick this morning. Throughout today and later tonight we get hit hard with lots of freezing rain. Not looking forward to tomorrow morning's commute! Be safe Bees. :)
@MrsMaine: I love the map :).
TKSJewelry: Be safe! I rode with my dad into work today, and he was okay in his truck except for hills.
we had a forecast for 1/2 an inch of ice and anywhere from 8-24 inches of snow. So far we only have little bits of ice falling. My university is closed today, though. Hooray, snow days! :)
Its basically going to start snowing this afternoon and stop sometime Thursday lol looking for 12-18 inches here, but no ice thankfully
@MrsMaine: hahahahaha i love that!
We are supposed to get up to two feet of snow. This would be like the fourth time at least this winter we've had over a foot of snow.
The poll needs an option for we've already had six inches since Christmas. We call a truce.
It started snowing about an hour ago. We already have probably three inches :( It was a nasty ride to work because the plows don't come out until we get four. The roads were so slick. Plus visibility was probably down to a quarter mile.
Please, please be safe ladies.
We are forecasted to get anywhere from 6 to possibly 12 inches of snow. We are in one of the blizzard sections on the weather map, the edge of it. Started snowing here at 6:00 am and the wind is blowing like crazy. They say we could start getting heavier snow at noon with 1-2 inches an hour and up to 35 mph wind. Went into work this morning, but we are closing down at noon and then starting an hour later in the morning. So I get half a snow day....yay:)
We just had some ice so far at home but where I work, it's worse. So we had an hour and 1/2 delay this morning. I get into work at 9:30 to find out we're closing at noon. Ice, ice, ice.
Ya'll northern folk, stay warm and safe!! I'll enjoy my rainy GEORGIA weather! We had our mini-blizzard a few weeks ago (6-8 inches...Haha!) and that's enough for us for two years! :)
we were supposed to get a couple of inches last night, and wound up with nothing, so the drive to work this morning was easy breezy :)
tonight is supposed to be SNOPACALYPSE. SNOMYGOD. SNOMAGEDDON.
lol but i dont think it'll be too bad. yest they said it'd be 10-15 inches, today they've changed the forecast to 8-12 inches.
either i have a snow day tomorrow and i'm hoping class is cancelled tom night! :)
Down here in Dallas we got sleet last night which has now turned into an inch of ice covering all of the roads and a light dusting of snow. Dallas is freaking out but honestly, being an Indiana girl, I don't think it is all too bad! I drove into work this morning and am one of about 30 people in the entire office who made it here!
New Hampshire here and its snowing very crazy right now! white out conditions 6 inches today and then 16-20 I heard tomorrow!! eekkk haha i dont mind driving in it its other people that make me nervous! be safe everyone!
It's awful here. Here is our map. It's ridiculous, and it just started.
I'm 45 mins north of Cincinnati right now and we got freezing rain last night so our neighborhood street & our driveway are completely covered in a layer of ice. FI doesn't get snow days/ice days so I got up early to make him blueberry pancakes (his fave) and we tag-teamed the scraping of his car (which took a solid 20 mins for 2 people!) to make him feel a little better about having to go to work when he hates his job while I get a snow day.
The school I'm working in this semester for practicum is closed from the ice, so this makes snow day #4 for me in the past 3 weeks since I've started! (though I guess technically it's an ice day since we got no snow). I love snow though (as long as I don't have to drive in it!) so I'm pretty jealous of all my college friends in the KC area & all my family in St Louis.. sounds like they're under a blizzard warning.
Supposed to get more freezing rain/heavy rain this evening & late into the night, and then snow starting at about 6am, so fingers crossed I get another snow/ice day tomorrow! Especially since tomorrow is my early day (well, I start earlier, but still get off at the same time) & it's my day at the middle school, which is my least favorite age group to work with, and my least favorite day of the week because of it. I'd love another ice day tomorrow! Since I'm done with my master's in May, I don't have to make up any snow days in June, either, so I say bring it on! haha
@missjyc: you crack me up.
'tonight is supposed to be SNOPACALYPSE. SNOMYGOD. SNOMAGEDDON'
@upstatebroad: The drive from Saratoga to Albany this morning for work wasn't too terrible until we hit Albany. I'm sure the ride home will be hell.
Like Upstatebroad said, we should see close to 30" before it stops on Thursday. I've already let my boss know that I'll be working from home tomorrow.
ETA: Just heard it's been upped to 36". Kill me now!
