Now that I've gotten engaged, it seems that everyone wants to know what I'm going to do with my hair for the wedding day.

I get everything from, "Are you going to cut it?" to "So, what's the style for the big day?"

I don't have a pic up yet, but I have locs. I've been growing them for seven years now and they are pretty long, down my back.

What frustrates me is not everyone's questions, but my loss as to how this hair is going to be styled on my big day. Cutting it is not an option as some people have suggested.

An updo is mandatory for me since it will be HOT in Jamaica and I don't want to have to fuss with a head full of hair on the day of. I just want to find some great styles for locs or any styles that can be used on my head full of hair.

Just so you guys can get an idea of what I'm talking about, I have posted some pics of my hair when its down.

If you're natural, what do you plan to do with your hair on your wedding day?

I'm not natural, but I have no idea what I'm doing with my hair on my wedding day. Could be an updo, could be a blow out, or even braids. I told my friend this morning I was thinking of braids or twists and she said, no. lol Idk...

I have natural hair, and completely intend on having my hair in treebraids for the wedding. I don't want to have to deal with too much drama in figuring out what to do with my hair.

I think your hair is beautiful!

Have you seen Mrs. Swan's posts? Her hair turned out great! I think her hairdresser put her locks into a heart shape for the wedding.

I know exactly how you feel I have natural hair as well and my mom has been my number one supporter but when I got engaged she started talking about relaxers, etc. I am going to get a blow out and a few tracks as well.

I would check out Mrs Swan's blog. She also has locks. You can do a number or things with your hair.

    @Spaganya

    The second pic is nice!!

I tried to style my hair like the first one, but it's just too long! When my stylist was finished, I still had hair on my neck, which is not an option in hot weather!

I've checked out Mrs. Swan's blog and posts here and her has was GORGEOUS! I let her know already!

Thanks for the pics! I was trying to find some online. . .

I'm getting pretty frustrated with this question.

I cut/picked out my locs after six years back in 9/09 and have been growing out my fro again since. Everyone assumes I am going to straighten my hair. I have no intentions to. Of course I am going to style it, but I'm growing tired of comments like "You can't wear a bush on your wedding day." "You have so much hair it's going to be so long when you press it for the wedding."

I'm to the point where I just smile and nod.

I also have locs which are slightly shorter than your length.

For my first ceremony I know that I'll probably get spirals curls  and instead of veil I was thinking about a birdcage style, but I'm not sure how that would work.

But for my wedding next year, wow I didn't even think of it. Hmmphh. You've got me really thinking about this now.

@bklynbridetobe It was a chore. It took me a few weeks because I only did a few at a time. I started from the back so I could wear buns and low ponytails, but if I had to do it over again I'm not sure I would. I was glad not to be super short again, but it was a pain.

Funny thing is now I miss my locs!

oh I know my friend combed out her los two years ago (we didn't even know you could, thanks YOUTUBE) and she recent came backinto the fold.  She got twists put in and she'll let it loc up again.

I practiced with few of mine and yes indeed it was time consuming. Problem is I have such uneven new growth so I can't imagine just doing a BC. I really wonder of what I can do with my hair if I comb it out, but at the same time Im used to my low maintenance locs. I wonder if I really have the patience to deal with my "hair" again???

I am natural and will be simply getting it straightened, tightly pin-curled and if I sweat going to let it curl right back up.......I don't care - lol - thats the best part of being natural cute straight and don't run from the rain when it curls
