I think so! My sis is a big Starbucks person, and she has one and LOVES it, especially the flavored coffees.
i havent tried much of their other choices in kcups besides the coffee and hot chocolate, Having worked in a coffee shop i know the things that makes their coffee so good is the syrups they use to flavor the coffee/espresso - you can buy those syrups though! so that might be something to look into but for the most part you are going to get flavored coffee (infused in the beans) rather than like a flavored latte which uses espresso and syrups.
The keurig is great! its just so convenient...i love starbucks specialty coffess but i love a good old fashion cup of coffee too so i always brew starbucks coffee in my keurig with refillable k cups (better for the environment and saves money!)
I'm like you -- I never drink black coffee but I love flavored lattes from Starbucks!
We got the Keurig Mini Plus as a wedding gift and I L-O-V-E love it! We have several varieties of flavored coffee, along with hot chocolate and cider. It's great to be able to make one cup at a time; I usually make mine on the way out the door and drink it on my commute into work.
Some of the coffees do require a bit of milk and sugar for those of us who aren't into the strong stuff.
Plus, the K-Cups are SO much more affordable than Starbucks. Boxes usually contain between 12 and 18 K-Cups, usually for about $12-$15 each, depending on where you buy.
P.S. The K-Cup version of a Mocha barely tastes like coffee at all. My husband doesn't like the taste of coffee, but he loves the Mochas.
I have a Keurig and really...I'm not as obessed as most people seem to be about them. I've tried multiple varieties, nothing it makes has tasted like starbucks and I really don't see how its considered so convenient. I still have to fill it with water and I still have to change the cups. My tiny little coffee pot did just as much and I got more coffee with less effort.
Are there good non mocha flavors? I can't have chocolate and I'm afraid all the good ones will be mocha :(
So far it sounds like most people love it though! I think I might just suck it up and see for myself finally.
@artbee: Ooh, well that's definitely a consideration.
I have several varieties of vanilla that I enjoy. Like a previous poster said, it's not the same as a Starbucks vanilla latte, but for a fraction of the cost and the convenience of my own home, I'll take it.
There's also great ciders, teas (even iced and/or sweet teas), etc. You can see all the possible flavors here:
Hmmmm.... I'm not a cider or tea fan. Maybe the keurig just isn't for me :(
I LOVE ours! But I think that the best thing we ever did was get a reuseable KCup, and we just put our own coffee in it (much cheaper, and DH really likes Dunkin Donuts so we just use that)...It's so much neater and less wasteful than a regular coffeepot. And another thing is that you can fit a travel mug under it, which most coffee pots will only let you fit a mug under them (if there the ones with no pot).
Also, I drink Fertilitea, and since it's loose, I can just put it in Kcup and hit the button:)
Before I gave up coffee for TTC, I tried several of the flavors, and I haven't yet found one that I have to have, but I agree that it's fun to try them all out. DH is not into "fancy" so he really appreciates his good ol' Dunkin. And with me not drinking coffee anymore, it's useless to make a whole pot.
Here's the KCup, just in case you're interested....
There are soo many flavors I feel like everyone can find something they like. I'm obsessed.
@jholler25: i had this one and loved it then my mom bought me this one...you should check it out, much more convenient, you dont have to take out that black k cup holder and switch it with the gray to use it, just stick it in like a normal k cup
I love the Keurig. I drink coffee when I go work nights and a migraine appears. I find it annoying to have to brew a pot just for once cup. Small coffee pot or not. Anyways, they KCups are pretty expensive though. I don't own one myself, but FI's parents did.
The Keurig saves me so much money it's unreal. The K-cups aren't cheap but they're a lot cheaper than Starbucks! I love getting to try different types and flavors. You can also buy a k-cup filter and use your own coffee. I wasted so much before and now I waste none, it goes right into my cup and is ready in 90 seconds! I have one of the larger ones so I could make iced coffee in my tall coffee mugs.
@totheislnds: Oh, the one you posted is the one we have! Sorry - I didn't know there was more than one kind - dur:) I didn't realize it was "eco" that we have...Yes, I love those little things!
There are tons of varieties of K-Cups. I love the Dunkin' Donuts ones that just came out. I believe Starbucks is releasing some soon too. I think I would marry my Keurig if I could.
I decided against the Keurig and went with the Nescafe Dolce Gusto. It's cheaper and it's cups are lattes, espresso drinks. It doesn't have the variety Keurig does but I don't drink regular coffee so I don't care. I made my own pumpkin syrup and I must say I prefer my PSL over Starbucks!
absolutely love my keurig....there is a pumpkin spice out now that is so good...along with a ton of ther flavors that are not in the mocha family, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla... My sister has one as does one of my co-workers and we buy the kcups in bulk on coffeegiant.com and just split them up between the three of us...it comes out to about .50 a cup which is way cheaper then the 4-5 bucks from starbucks
I'm in love with our keurig!! I'm also a really big coffee drinker too! Its super easy to use, tons of selection with k-cups w flavored coffee, different roasts, lattes, cappuccinos, hot cocoa, iced coffee, teas, ciders.
I have a Tassimo and I abuse that thing so hard every day. I dont know how I lived life without it.
Get the keurig. You'll love it.
I.LOVE.MY.KEURIG!!!!
The Keurig gives a wide variety for selections, and I get the Coffeemate Sweet Italian Creamer to make it even more coffeeshop-ish. I even make ice coffees using the Gloria Jeans K Cups, the Sweet Italian Creamer, and (of course) ice. YUM!
Latest addiction... Chai Tea Latte K Cups... awesome.
I love my Keurig, but the coffee can get pricey if you're used to paying for normal cans if coffee. My favorite flavor right now is pumpkin spice, its amazing!!
I have to admit I've been a little bit disappointed in the Keurig. I think part of the problem for me is that I can only drink decaf and there just isn't much to choose from. I also really like Peet's coffee which is pretty strong in flavor and the K-cups just don't have that level of flavor. It is nice to brew up a quick cup, and my husband definitely uses it, we just don't get as much use out of it as I expected.
One more small complaint...when I've used it for tea or even just for hot water to use with a tea bag, I still taste coffee and it ruins the tea for me. I always run one cup of just water to clean it out, but it doesn't seem to help. I admit I'm picky when it comes to this kind of thing :)
Frappuccinos were my introduction to liking coffee and I still don't like plain black coffee. I LOVE my Keurig though, and for non-chocolate my favorite is the Wolfgang Puck Vanilla Francais (with some milk and two splendas). In summer I freeze coffee ice cubes and then brew fresh coffee over the ice cubes and it makes a great homemade iced vanilla latte :).
Meh. I have a cheap grinder, and we buy good-quality coffee beans. I like really dark, strong coffee, and to get that with the Keurig I end up putting it through two brew cycles on the smallest size to get a cup of coffee the way I like it. And I've only found one K-Cup that's even close to how I like my coffee--Dark Magic. We have a Keurig in the house (my SIL's) and it's super convenient if I only want one cup, but it's faster to brew a full or half pot in our Mr. Coffee.
We have the little cup that you can put your own griound coffee in, but unless I'm making it just for me (which never happens), it's more time-consuming.
I totally think you would love it! There are so many flavors and options (iced/hot) you can blend them etc. I would suggest you try out flavored creamer or the syrups another pp was talking about! I like a little coffee with my cream, and there's so many types that there has to be one you love!
We love ours because it's easy and mess free. There's tons of flavors. I'm like you and I like my coffee sweeter. I just bought the pumpkin spice flavor for Bed Bath and Beyond and it's really good with vanilla creamer. Also you can use it for other things besides coffee. I have k-Cups for chai tea and hot chocolate which are both really good.
Thanks for all the advice! I'm sold!
I was mostly hesitant b/c of the price... We're pretty broke now. Same old sob story, we just had a baby and bought a house that we're trying to fix up so we don't really have money for anything fun. I talked to my husband about it tonight and played the "I'm exausted from staying home with the baby all day" card so coffee is going to be my chanukah present! Yay!
We love ours so much that we are getting on for my aunt for Christmas. She won't spend that amount of money on herself, but we know she would love it. We are going to get her some tea and coffee for tasting. We love to use the hot chocolate too!

I'm not a coffee drinker unless it's fancy Starbucks coffee that doesn't really taste like coffee because there's so much sweetness in it. So I've never had a coffee maker. I wouldn't mind drinking more fancy coffee, but I'm way too lazy to go out every day to buy it.
I've heard so much about the Keurig, would that be something that someone like me would get any use out of? Thanks!
