I don't usually go over there but I just saw they have a 'Snarky Brides' board. What??!?
That's crazy.
Wow... I didn't know that, either!!! Crazy!!!
<3
I thought the whole thing was supposed to be snarky.
And behind the times, apparently, as a "theknot" newsletter I got today said that "black and white is the new hot trend."
Little late, guys.
I thought all their boards was for snarky brides.
Thats like saying "Nike has shoes for feet now."
i saw that after i visited their boards awhile back.... crazy is right!!! did u look through posts? i don't get it, are they all mean or something.? Thank goodness for weddingbee!!!!!!!!!
It's mostly a group of women who used to be on the Not (Yet) Engaged board on The Knot. The Knot Admins reorganized... maybe 2 years ago? and added the Snarky Brides board especially for them, so real unengaged women could use the NYE board. I used to follow the Snarky Bride board pretty closely, but kinda abandoned The Knot altogether when I found WeddingBee. I much prefer the company here in the hive. :)
are you serious?! where is this? ha it would probably be fun to read for entertainment but i couldnt imagine actually being a part of it.
"Members with attitude who are brutally honest with their opinions. These Knotties are discussing everything from celebrity gossip to pressing world issues and everything in between"
@MissACS - LMAO - yes, that is like saying that Nike has shoes for feet now. All of the Knot has a level of snarkiness that I can't stand. I used to belong to it - totally deleted my membership after I found the Hive.
@MissACS... I laughed out loud on your post!! That's AWESOME!!
@krissybee- Thank goodness for weddingbee is right!!!
<3
The Knot is kind of sad all over. Yay for Weddingbee! Now we need a Babybee... hint, hint :)
When I first got engaged, a co-worker recommended that I check out the Knot's local Philly boards. I signed up, and was immediately turned off. On my first day there, I read a post from a girl who was bitching because she had to go to a shower that was at someone's house, and she thought it was tacky. Now, admittedly, I think that complaining about that is tacky and I'd never have a problem with a shower at someone's home (my shower is going to be a backyard BBQ for chrissakes!) but I just clicked over to another thread. However, a few hours later, I saw that there were DOZENS of replies and when I clicked to read them, all the girls were ripping this chick a new one. It was a really hostile environment.
A few days later, I wrote a post about how we were going to have an iPod reception because we wanted to have complete control over the wedding music. The girls all told me that we were being selfish for not having a DJ that could play our guests' requests. What???
And finally, about a week or two after I signed up, someone on the Philly board posted a poll entitled "Who Should We Kick Off the Island?" and had a list of members who, I suppose, nobody liked. Everyone who commented ripped everyone else apart. The girl who was deemed "most annoying" was done so because she was too enthusiastic about her wedding and about others'. She commented about how hurt she was and everyone just tore her a new one. It was unbelievable.
I posted a reply to tell everyone how mean I thought the thread was, and how I'd be contacting admin to delete my Knot account. Then everyone started calling me a bitch, including the Philly board moderator!
There are Bridezillas, and there are bitches. These girls were just bitches, you guys. I'll never visit the Knot again.
@ danadelphia - I used to be a regular on TK, and I had that done to ME (although not on the philly board, lol). I was the person the most girls wanted to b*tchslap and leave TK. It was not very nice. I admit that everyone needs a dose of brutal truth every now and then, but sometimes it's just mean.
Hee, that sounds like fun entertainment. I'll have a look when I need a laugh.
Wow Dana.
Glad I found the hive first - I'm a newbie but I sure like it here! We can have (GASP!) differing opinions and everything . . . .
Riiiiidiculous. Glad we have the hive!
PS-don't they all eventually turn on one another? And are the Nest's boards like this?
@ danadelphia- yikes!!! oh my gosh that sounds terrible! tough crowd over there, holy smokes.
From what I've seen, isn't the snarky board kind of a "venting" board?
I agree that they are.... outspoken. To put it nicely. Gotta love the hive!
I only use TK for our wedding website and our guest list manager. That's it!
The rest of the time I'm on the great wedding bee to get great ideas, vent, and help other bees! I LOVE THIS SITE!!!
<3
Once I had an Amazon product recommendation that was close to the shoes for feet comment.
"People who wear clothes were also interested in..."
No shit.
"People who wear clothes were also interested in..."
Buttons. Hangers. Zippers. Laundry detergent (hopefully).
@Miss Chocolate - I was so afraid to come over here to the 'bee for so long because I assumed that all bridal boards were like TK. I'm so glad I came here though. :)
I am seriously lauging out loud reading through this post!! Hahaha!! You girls crack me up!! ps- I cannot stand the knots bridal board, those girls are mean!! =)
I was poking around on their boards over the weekend because a couple friends have recommended it to me as a resource... whoa. The tone was a turn off.
I actually found The Knot first, though I abandoned it for Weddingbee like many of you. WB really is a much more welcoming community, and I don't really have a desire to post anywhere else :)
The one thing I did like about TK boards was that the brutally honest opinions helped with decision-making. My bridal philosophy is more make-people-happy than "It's my day, so I get my way." And if you are looking for real feedback (rather than simply sharing a decision you've already made), it's great to hear both positive and negative comments.
I used to post on the P&E board, which was like a slightly snarkier version of Snarky Brides, and they saved me from a couple of bad decisions like making a big deal over inviting a few extra guests or walking down the aisle to an inappropriate song.
Lol I saw that board!! Ugh arguing over the internet is the lamest thing ever. Every single news website I go on has people arguing back and forth over the stupidest stuff. It's so easy to be "snarky" over the internet. It's also pretty unoriginal. That's why I love Weddingbee :)
i couldnt believe this post... crazy... absolutely crazy there was even a board labelled that. Must be good for marketing? We cater for all types.. :P
All their boards are snarky from what I have seen. The exception is the local boards which are somehwat civil. The worst though for snarkiness is their etiquette board. How they can justify that behavor is beyond me. I don't agree at all with their claims that "if you want honestly, we are your best audience because your family and friends will sugarcoat anything you want to hear." Not sure what the point of a moderating team is because they are just as bad as anyone else. How that place can stay as popular as it does despite the open hostility and bullying is a mystery. Goes to show that some people never outgrow high school. Someone who feels the need to act out like that online must have a miserable life in the real world or other issues because surely they don't treat their own family like that?
So glad that WeddingBee has a helpful compassionate vibe that so many don't have.
@Miss Chocolate - I use the knot for those things too, but begrudingly so. They serve their purpose.
Otherwise, I can't stomach the site. I try to read the boards when I am bored at work but the girls are so mean and holier than though I can't bring myself to post or to really care what they think.
Long live weddingbee!
As far as I can tell the Knot is everything that's wrong with the Wedding Industrial Complex and what gives brides a bad name. The darkness to Weddingbee's light...
But then, I guess that we're all being a bit snarky about The Knot aren't we. Hee hee! No offense to anyone who enjoys the site. It's just not for me.
In response to that mean TK list about member you most want to vote off the island we should do the WB version - Nominate the member you'd most like to high five/hug/do a giddy happy dance with/whatevs.
@Miss ACS: "Thats like saying "Nike has shoes for feet now." That's awesome. Classic, actually! :)
@danadelphia: that's so horrible! I can't believe people... I'm so grateful for Weddingbee!!! It's such a different vibe than I've ever seen at The Knot.
