I like the combined name!  My FI and I have VERY similar last names (they both start with Gold and end with a noun), and we’re each keeping out own last name, but our kids will have the last name of Gold.  I think it’s nice when one name doesn’t eliminate the other.

I’m usually not a big fan of hyphenated names, but yours go really well together — I love Gordon-Higgins! And I honestly like Higdon, even though I know you’re joking about it.

My DH and I have different last names, and sometimes I kind of wish we’d both changed our names, either to a hyphenated name or a new last name.

Why isn’t there an option for Gorgins?

I like Gorgins…it’s like a cute abbreviate version or gorgeous!!!!

I know you guys are joking about HigDon, but I do have a set of friends that really did do that and were happy with it!!

Me and my FI will be hyphenating our last names. They’re both only four letters long and both begin with a K so it works for us hehe!!   I know you’re joking about the last option of combined names but I actually really like it!!!

Higdon! Why should one last name be thrown out in place of the other? Each of you are equally important, right?

LadyAprill:  That’s true. I kept my last name though; I can’t imagine being called something else after three decades. I empathize with your options, though, since it is quite a lot to mull over. Are you leaning for a particular one?

Actually, your combined last name isn’t bad. I love when couples do this if it sounds good.

I also love the way it sounds hyphenated. You two lucked out with names that really complement!

MrsYoshida:  Me too. “Higdon” has a nice ring to it for some reason.
