I am in Lafayette so not too far from you! I am sure there are many other bees who live in Indy, they must be at work... ;-) Good luck finding some others!
I just wrote this on the pug thread. I'm in Evansville. I've been wanting to go to Indy for a while. We should plan something!
Puggy you should come up for a pug meetup when it gets warmer! It's the first saturday of every month!
Um.. Count me in!! When it gets closer to time, can I get more information from you on it?
DEFINITELY! They are more popular in the warm months but take place every month. It would be so fun!
kjpugs - i'm an indy girl! gettin' married at mavris...AND i'm the PROUD mommy of a black pug! :P
@JuneBride SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you been to the pug meetup in Broad Ripple before????
kjpugs - no not yet...and I live IN south broad ripple! :D
I take my babies to the BR dog park all the time (well, before it got cold...) I have a 70 pound golden retreiver (1 year old) and my black booger (petey, our pug who's 5). :D
We adopted Petey through KPR.
they LOVE it there! we should totally meet up sometime! lemme know!
SHUT UP YOU LIVE IN SOUTH BROAD RIPPLE SO DO WE I"M DM-ING YOU!
I live in Indy area as well. Glad to have found you guys because I was also thinking that I MUST be the only one! I live just east of Fishers.
hey there, emmerzwithcheese! :p
hey heeey! there's another broad ripple bride right here!
I'm an Indy girl and I love weddingbee! I'm orginally from Fort Wayne but moved to Indy to go to college. We're getting married in downtown Indy at St. Mary's and having the reception at the Rathskeller. YAY Indy brides! I felt like I was one of the only ones on here too :)
So how are everyone's plans shaping up? I finally hired a DJ after narrowing it down to two. It was a very hard decision for me because I find it hard to justify they amount they cost for a few hours of music.
Hopefully your DJ will earn his money, and get your guests out on the dance floor. =)
I'm also an Indy bee in South Broad Ripple. I'm originally from Ft. Wayne and moved south of Indy for college, then into Indy after graduation. :) We're getting married in Ft. Wayne, though, since it was the only way my 88 year old grandmother could attend.
My ceremony is at the St. Joan of Arc and Reception's at the Indianapolis Arts Garden!
Hi charmedlife! Looks like you have just over a year, but do you have a venue or anything yet?
Nope, no venue yet. That is my biggest problem right now. I want something beautiful, possibly on the water or outside but I am afraid it will rain. Do you have any suggestions? I dont know what to do. lol. Where are you getting married?
We also wanted an outside venue but I was concerned about rain. We found this little tiny park I think called Washington park in zionsville right downtown in the historic district. It was perfect, but kind of small. As it turns out you can't rent the park just the gazeebo so that was disappointing. Then we looked at places on the canal and there are a few georgeous ones but WAY out of my budget. We finally settled on the Skyline Club downtown. It is one block from the circle and it is 36 floors up so it overlooks the entire city. It is amazing at night. The price was good too. My step brother got married at the Mavris downtown and they work with all budgets. Their website is misleading so you might want to go in and talk to them if it appeals to you. There is an outdoor section where the cocktail hour was and guests could go out there during the reception too. It is right by some railroad tracks that make excellent pictures and it has a view of the city. I hope these suggestions can be a start for you!
Yeah, thanks! We have alot of people coming from California so somewhere in the city might be nice. That way they can explore. We were looking into Avon gardens. Did you guys happen to check that out?
no, we looked downtown and on the north side of indy. Neither of us are familiar with the south/west side. feel free to message me if you need any other suggestions.
When we were originally planning to have the wedding in Indy we looked at Avon Gardens. It was really pretty, but I finally decidedIwas just too scared of rain.
i'll be getting married at avon gardens this labor day weekend!
it's honestly the best decision i've made so far. i'm a little wary of the rain, but there is a covered wooden garden pavilion, and we're renting a couple tents for the reception. karen, the owner, is fanastic and has left me really at ease with everything. plus, the gardens are so beautiful, you really don't need to worry about decorating. there's a pond there, and a stream with flowing water, and a couple small waterfalls... plenty of visual interest.
We are going to take a look at Avon Gardens this weekend. I am a little scared about rain because bad luck seems to find me where ever I go. I called Mavris and it was super expensive. 6300 dollars for under 50 people. WOW!!!! Plus we couldnt have the wedding on a saturday and we have to use their caterers which I dont want to do. Even with my super expensive cater we are still going to be over 2000 dollars under the 6300 that they want. But it is beautiful there. We are also looking into Osprey Pointe Pavillion here in Noblesville. Has anybody had a reception there? Its very pretty and on the water.
I'm a bride near the Geist area! It's so nice to see that there are other "Indiana" brides here. I'm originally from a small town in Southeastern Indiana though. Our wedding reception will be in Shelbyville.
another indy girl here. i didn't think there were any indy girls either. our wedding is april 30, 2011 at the harrison center for the arts downtown. anyone else using that venue? attended a wedding there?
I'm an Indy bee too! Also new to Weddingbee and in the 'waiting' phase. I have thought about Avon Gardens as a venue though; looks like a few of you are thinking the same :) It sounds lovely. Glad to see lots of other Indy brides here!
Hello Bees! I'm in Fishers, Indiana. It's good to know there are other Indy people around! My husband and I moved here about 6 months ago and are still struggling to make friends :( Sigh...
I'm from Indy. I would like to encourage those of you still looking for a venue (ceremony and/or reception) to check out Coxhall Gardens in Carmel. It is just West of Meridian on 116th Street and Towne Road. It is amazing!
Hi Bees! I'm from a little North of Indy, but now live in Bloomington for school! Yay for more Indiana girls :)
Hey Indy brides, I'm an Indy bride too!!! Do any of you know of any venues for the reception that allows outsourced caterers? I really want to do our own food.. We're having a southern vintage theme so anything that goes along with that would be amazing!
Thanks Indy Bees
@rufie808: Avon Gardens allows for outside vendors... Heck, the whole thing can be who you want - no strings attached.
My FI and I are wanting a BBQ type of meal (since everything is outside) and we are looking into Big Al's Catering. He said he could do a southern-style BBQ plated dinner for 8-10 bucks per person.
Correction: We are considering "Big Earl's" Catering... Al, Earl... Same difference :)
indy bride! i just booked avon gardens and i'm looking into doing BBQ as well!

I have yet to see an Indianapolis girl on here- definitely a few Indiana gals but no Indianapolis action on the Indiana board. Just posting to all you bees out there- any other Naptown chicas in the hive? Or am I having an Indy bee meetup for one on my couch?
