I liked getting the folders or the pencil pouch kits that came with a pen, pencil, sharpener, mini ruler, etc.
I loved school supplies too!!! And now I love office supplies! ![]()
Folders, pencils, crayons, pencil case, notebooks (I still love notebooks and have way too many!). Stickers would be great as well. Maybe a special little charm or zipper pull for her backpack?
I loved getting school supplies! Pencils with cool designs on them! Maybe a fun pencil/crayon bag or box! Those markers and paints that only work on paper!
I used to have entierly too much fun shopping for school supplies...Wait, i still do...lol.. Some of my personal favs are:
1)my ozzy sharpener. It is in a hourglass shape and has oil and water in it so it is cool to play with.
2)folding ruler. It isnt very useful, but it is fun. It folds into 12 one inch sections.
3)pretty folders and fun writing utensial. Even today as a college sr. I spend the extra and get pretty folers that have fun designs and pends that are in fun colors or have some weird thing about them, like thet light up, bend, ect..
4)pretty pouch to put all her little stuff in so it isnt lost in the depths of her backpack.
That is all i can thnk of so that is it. Just have fun with it and be a kid yourself!
I LOVED new hair ribbons, bows, and clips. I wore a uniform my whole life so fun hair accessories were our only way to show our personality.
I also liked folders with cats, dogs and anything cute on them!
Enjoy shopping...you are a great Aunt !
Good call on the hair ribbons too! The school uniform is pretty bland (I had to wear it too so I know!) mostly khaki or navy pants/skirt and a white, green or blue polo!
She's the only niece I have (no nephews either) so she is pretty spoiled! I can't wait to go school supply shopping
My class of preschoolers LOVED new backpacks!! They also adored markers and colored pencils. For some reason erasers- the big pink ones were always a huge hit too!
I used to LOVE Lisa Frank too!! And I do think they are still sold because I feel like I've heard my fi's niece talking about it!! Ooh look I just googled it, check this out http://www.lisafrank.com/
!!
Personally for a four year old I would suggest erasers (not too small though!), stickers, markers, crayons, etc. I think she probably still has a while before she's excited about sharpened pencils and folders and that kind of thing. Ahh i can't wait to have kids so I can do school supply shopping!! My sister and I still love the smell of Office Max or Staples because it brings us back to those days!! Have fun with this!
They make school pencil boxes that light up now..... some of my students have them and think they're way cool. :)
I L-O-V-E-D Lisa Frank when I was in school! In fact, I actually had a huge box of Lisa Frank stationery that I had collected as a kid that I only got rid of like a year ago...haha. I'd say go with Lisa Frank...or Hannah Montana since she seems to be the cool thing for girls these days. My favorite school supplies were always the folders with the designs on them, then whatever the coolest pens/pencils are. I was always a sucker for having a collection of colorful pens :) I still am, haha. And I second the hair ribbon thing. That will def be a fun way for your niece to add personality to her school look.
Glitter! Your sister might stop speaking to you when she has glitter all over everything, but I loved (still love) it. I glued it to everything.
I also liked being the kid with the 96 box of crayons. 'Oooh, forget green, this tree needs to be mint julep!' I'm such a nerd.
Lisa Frank was the sh*t!!!! Lol Me and my best friend were even in the Lisa Frank Club. Which is still around believe it or not. I actually just bought my little sister and cousin memberships to it along with baskets of Lisa Frank stuff for their birthdays (ages 6 and 10). The membership includes monthly prizes and a magazine plus an official membership card and everything hehe. I think I bought most of the stuff at Wal-Mart maybe? There or Target. Though I dreadddd going to Wal-Mart I think it had a pretty big selection. Oh yeah, I filled out the club information on the webiste, which I just googled.

Okay, I'm about to take the award for the most random question posted on the boards today. BTW - Totally not wedding related.
My niece is turning 4 in a few weeks and is starting school (real school, omg) in September. I told my sister I'd get her some school clothes (Catholic School uniform) since I have an employee discount at The Gap and Old Navy. I wanted to get her a few more "school things" just to throw in the bday package. I used to LOVE school supplies growing up (I still do kind of.. nothing beats a freshly sharpened pencil or fun filing folders! haha) I'm going to keep away from backpacks, lunchboxes, etc since my sister will be getting those, I'm looking for more fun stuff that a little kid would like.
What is/was your favorite school "supply"?
I was thinking a few Lisa Frank folders and stickers... but does anyone know if those are still sold anywhere?
Okay... now, go, start being random with me!
