So my husband and I are at least 18months away from TTC…but I have been horrendously clucky recently, so we have been talking names.
Lochie (a scottish name for our joint scottish heritage) – This isn’t short for Lachlan either
Alana (after his granddad)
Rayne – I am in love with this name but it could still potentially be off the list if I can’t talk him around
These are our definites…not sure about middle names yet, they will probably just be family names.
What do you think?

Julian and Jade are both really nice to me.

Lol I love jade it’s on my list too! (Not TTc but still hehe) and we also like the girl version of Julian (Julianne ) so maybe those are my favorites :p and my exes name was rayne , though I still think it’s a nice name.

Is Lochie common where you live? I just wonder because with the ‘ie’ at the end, your kid might get made fun of… idk. Honestly the first thing that came to mind is that you’d call a pet that name.
Jade and Rayne.. too new and “made up” sounding… so many Jadens around.. you don’t need another Jade out there. Rayne… just sounds a bit too trendy.. especially with the wrong spelling.

@canarydiamond: I went to high school with a girl named Jade…she was born in 1981…so it’s not THAT new!
OP, I like Lachlan, actually…is that vetoed? Julian’s nice, too. I mean, HELLO, Julian Fellows!
I like Alana for the girl. Would it rhyme with banana, though? If so I don’t like it. =)

I love the name Rayne! I’m a bit biased though, it’s my cousin’s name.

@peachacid: It’s still not a classic name. That’s what I was getting at. Not that everyone needs a classic name… but with the amount of “Jaden/Jayden” type names out there I wouldn’t do it.

@canarydiamond: I’m pretty sure Jade has been around a lot longer than all of those “yden” names, i wouldn’t even put them in the same category

I like Julian, Jade, Alana and Grace. I might avoid Jade because of the popularity of Jayden though.

I’ll be honest… Lochie makes me think of Nessie, or some sort of lagoon creature. It also just seems like a nickname to me? I’m not saying I hate it, but it isn’t my favorite name, and it seems like one kids would make fun of.
I like Alana a lot!

@sydneybridetobe1991: Alana! You should add a pole!

@canarydiamond: lol, I know 2 women in their 30s named Jade. I think one might actually be in her 40s.
@sydneybridetobe1991: I think the only name I dont like is Lochie. It just seems like a cutesy nickname to me.

Lochie sounds like a disease in my opinion. “I just got off the phone with the doctor and he told me I have a bad case of Lochie.”
Also not a fan of “Rayne”. Idk just looks like a “Trying too hard” kind of name or one with different spelling just to be unique.
Alana is pretty though.

@allyfally: Even if the name has been around for 50+ years it is still not a classic name. I just pointed out it sounds a bit too much like the -yden names, that’s all.
