Oh, wow. That's really ballsy. I'm pretty sure I would have done a double-take if I heard that coming from any vendor of mine. I mean really, unprofessional much? Yikes, I'm sorry hun :(
Whoa. I'd find myself being pretty snippy with her after she said that!!! Dang, you just don't do that!
Uh a florist who is possibly getting kickbacks from the other venue or has some sort of connection to the venue.
I bet that venue recommends her too!
That is so wrong. No vendor should ever say anything like that family friend or not!
The place she recommended is a state park! No kickbacks! She is just lacking in class!
At this point we are just about 6 months out; have booked our location, the wedding website is published (which she knows!), and all of our details have been centered around this location, which I love. I described specifically where it was (complete other side of Ithaca) and that it was on the lake (the other park isn't).
That's incredibly unprofessional. Combined with all the other alarm bells I'd be considering someone else, family friend or not.
Simply smile and say no thanks! I picked my venue because I like it.
If it's someone that the FMIL knows then maybe you can ask her advice on this subject. Maybe she will be able to take hold of the Vapid Vendor and straighten all this out.

That is really rude, FMIL friend or not. Theres no chance it's coming from your FMIL? I would just politely tell her that it is what you want and no let her have any more imput that is not directly related to the flowers You have chosen (not ones she thinks may be prettier) How rude!

What florist tells a bride she's working with that she should change her venue, because the place she's suggesting is "much prettier"?!?
I am so pissed! The nerve!
I have to say, if she were not a small town florist that FMIL knows pretty well, I would not sign our floral contract with her. I've had it with her million mistakes, taking much longer than stated for quotes, etc...
