Thank you! Yes, she's certainly a big girl! Thankfully she's starting to get the hang of a leash, so I don't get pulled everywhere. lol
Congrats on the new addition! She is a lucky girl and I'm so happy you've given her a loving home!!!
She is so cute! Woohoo for Rescuing! I also love the pink collar :)
She's adorable!! I can only imagine how much she'll be loved. I think she could even have a little lab in her. Love the big ears!
So adorable! And what a big girl! How old is she?
Beautiful! We rescued all the dogs we got when I was growing up. I love seeing other people rescue too! I love her ears! :)
Congrats!!!!
she is gorgeous! and thank you for adopting an older dog! ;)
Keep us updated on her :D
Congrats on your beautiful dog! I am so happy you are taking her in and getting her healthy :)
What a cutie! I love her coloring.
Good call on the harness, by the way, that must make leash training loads easier.
So cute!! I love Danes :) Good choice and good for you adopting a shelter dog :)
Congratulations on your new edition!! She is adorable and sounds like a sweet girl!
Thanks everyone! So far what I have learned: Her tail is LETHAL (I'm sure I'll have a bruise lol). When she shakes, ya better watch out and get out of her way. She's a cute mannered lady...until she gets her toy, and then she turns into a tornado. She apparently loves to run with my hubby (and they are quickly becoming BFFs). I can already tell she wants to be friends with one of our cats. Poor thing is so eager to play, but our cat is still trying to figure her out. And one of my favorite qualities about her? She patiently waited until the alarm went off this morning to tell us she needed to go outside. I don't know how we got so lucky to find a sweet gal that is already house trained to the T...What a gem!
I'm going to get her set up with a vet visit next week to talk about how to safely put weight on her. The shelter staff that did her medical evaluation told us to give her a can of wet food in addition to her dry food in the morning until she plumps up. I read this morning that an average dane about her size should be at a minimum of 90 lbs, so she has 22 lbs to go.

I have been wanting a great dane for years and yesterday was our lucky day! I scour the shelters several times a month and yesterday, she showed up. We went down right away to meet her and knew she was for us. The poor gal is so skinny, so our first order of business is to get her healthy. She seems to be so happy and on cloud 9. She is 100% house trained and crate trained, so we feel like we got it easy. We just want to work on some more basic commands and more socializing. She does do very well with other dogs, humans, and even our cats, but we want to socialize her some more while we get to know her. She even slept on her bed all nigth last night without roaming. She's such a sweetie! They did say she's a great dane mix, but we're not sure what the mix is...Maybe boxer? We really can't tell.
