Woman, you are way more ambitious than I am. I haven't even mustered up the energy to take our gifts out of their boxes and figure out where to put them. Plus, my husband and I have such opposing tastes - it was hard enough picking out silverware. I cannot even fathom how much "fun" it will be when we start trying to decorate our entire house.
Wow belle! I would totally do this with you.... once I have a home to decorate! Haha. Hopefully in 4 months or less.
Ah! I thought I was the crazy OCD lady for doing this, I'm so glad to hear someone else keeps and organizes all their home decor inspiration. I have cut outs from a million catalogs and I save images from online. I hadn't thought of business card pages though, that's pretty handy for smaller things, thanks!
@bellenga: This sounds like an awesome idea! How or where do you get your design inspiration pieces?
I have been wanting to start a journal/log of all the updates I do. I want to have a place to keep all the paint samples and stuff in one place so when I'm shopping I can easily compare say the couch fabric to a potential throw pillow.
This is actually an awesome idea... So far I have just made a bunch of folders on my computer and started saving pics. I am totally going to do this...
I should probably wait until AFTER the wedding to dive head-first into a binder project though =)
I'm a waiting lady, so it'd be a Waiting Inspiration book,LOL, but I SO needed this idea. We just got the furniture for the living room and I am totally blank as to what to do with it. A blank slate is scary. In that old apartment I had tons of ideas for the house...now...I have NO CLUE.
@bellenga: Checking in to see how things are going for you? I started a blog to go over some stuff I am doing. I did a post about a new patio we put in the front yard and picking out new knobs for our kitchen. I'm working on a few more projects this weekend that I will post next week. PM me if you want the site.
Is there any way you can share what you are doing? I was reading on YHL about how they pick out inspiration images and keep them organized and I might start that as well.
I love this idea! We have owned our house for a year now but since we got engaged a few days after putting the offer in on the house all of our energy has been devoted to wedding planning. Once the wedding is over in December I want to dive head first into making our house a home. I have such a mess of stuff I love the idea of organizing all of the clippings and magazines I have into one cohesive space.
Just as a side note is anyone besides me lamenting the passing of so many good home decor magazines? It is a shame so many became casualties of the recession. I miss them :(

Beekeeper
For the newlywed bees, I want to let you know what I'm going to do. My aunt was an interior designer for many years, and one trick she used was to get a notebook with pockets and dividers in them. Also get some business card plastic sheets with holes for the notebook in them.
I'm starting what she used to create a house design/look, but most of you, especially after creating your weddings, might call them inspiration boards. Mine is going to be an inspiration book. I am also going to create boards on picasa again after the vision is more cohesive and after some time and work.
First thing I'm going to do is take photos of our house, room by room. Divide each section of the notebook for a different room/area. Inside have on first page the picture of the room. On the opposing page, put fabric and paint samples into the little pockets of the clear business card holder so you can see how colors look together. Then on the next few pages, you can affix into the pages photos of pieces of furniture or accents you like.
This is going to be one of my newest projects and was wondering if any other bees might want to do this with me and in a few months we can see where we've made progress.
Happy nesting newlyweds!
