This was posted earlier, but with only a link to The Daily Mail. This is really sad. I feel so bad for her–not only for a lapse in judgment for taking that call, but because the DJs don’t seem to have any remorse for what they did. They could have ruined her career, but she KILLED HERSELF because of what they did. I wonder what kind of trouble they can get in for this.

I’m pretty sure radio DJs are the worst people in the world. Why do they do this sort of thing? Ugh.

This is so sad. The worldwide exposure and pressure of the experience must have been too much, plus who knows what else was going on in her life. What an awful tragedy.

I feel terrible that the nurse killed herself, but on the other hand, the very first rule of working in health care is that YOU DON’T GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION. Especially when it’s a known celebrity. I would be suspicious that the Queen herself would be calling…

@artichokey:  Some do some pretty amazing things for charities.  There are some bad ones out there, but they aren’t all that way!

I was just getting online to post about it on an earlier thread about the call. I just found out. I feel so sick right now. She was a mother and wife. Its just tragic.

It’s such a sad situation.  It was a mistake on her part, but not the end of the world.  So sad to hear she felt the need to die over this.

@red_pepper_gal:  I’m not sure if I’m right or not but one of the stories I was reading said this nurse, Jacintha Saldanha, was the one that transferred the call to a different nurse. The second nurse was the one giving out the information. But I could be wrong, some news stories can get a little mixed up. But I’m guessing she may have received flack from passing it on and believing it was actually the Queen when she should have known differently.

Here’s the one I read

@red_pepper_gal:  That’s why she killed herself. In the situation she was afraid of being rude to the queen, when she found out it was a hoax she realized that she had broken a basic rule over the radio and feared punishment from her boss and the royal family. I want to punch those DJs in their faces.

Myself being a nurse, I am really disgusted by those stupid DJs. However, as a professional, you are not supposed to disperse any personal information, over the phone, about a patient, especially if it involves a high profile individual. It’s just terrible how this all ended. That is why I’m not a big fan of pranks such as these, because not everyone reacts the same. Even with the show in the States, What Would You Do? is stupid. Someone can get hurt, in trouble, or in this case, die. Terrible.
