i agree! the pin it button makes me feel really uncomfortable. i have pinned things from the bee before, but never a personal photo and almost always i would resave the pic on my computer and upload. pinners of the world dont need direct access to a 5 page thread on bustling options to complete their inspiration boards!

i wish we could at least KNOW when our personal pics were pinned. ill be deleting mine too

I’ve been feeling the same way. It would be creepy to come across my own pictures on pinterest.

But…anyone with a Pinterest plug-in installed in their browser could already pin photos from here.

i’ve pinned a couple of things from here, but only when someone has sent me a pic/idea on one of my threads, most likely something the other bee has found on google anyways I would not feel comfortable knowingly pinning another bee’s personal photos onto pinterest. i am not totally against the pin it option but it may be an idea for this site to have a choice at upload. sort of a ‘keep it on the Bee’ option

Yea – it’s great for when people post other pics off the internet. Like these are the shoes I just ordered. Or here’s the pic of the model in my dress. Or here’s my inspiration for my flowers. Those are so great to be able to Pin with just one click!

But personal pictures having that functionality is kinda weird and creepy. It would be great if you could choose to disable it when you are uploading the pictures. It’s a shame you have no control over it besides just deleting all your pics. 🙁

The pin-it button just made it more convenient. Your photos were already able to be pinned from the moment pinterest launched. The new site feature has nothing to do with their ability to do so.

That being said, privacy is a very personal decision. You have to make sure you are comfortable with the amount of exposure you have.

yeah, i think there is a huge difference between actively adding a pin (and i have it on my bookmarks) and scrolling over images on boards that have a pin it button, especially because they are sometimes private photos. i’m going to have to rethink posting photos on the boards. from the blog, i get having the button, but it seems really weird to have it as part of the boards.

Agreed. I have almost pinned a couple of photos by accident, that’s how easy it is! I clicked when I meant to scroll and a window opened up with my Pinterest page… I was like “NOOOO!” and frantically clicked out. Of course, any photo online is pinnable, but the idea that now it’s RIGHT THERE wigs me out too.

@vorpalette: & @zippylef:  that is very true, but i guess i was just hoping other bees would think twice about it if they had to use the pintrest mechanism to pin it. when its right there on the pic it seems …idk… more WB sanctioned/a bigger invasion.

thankfully i dont have many personal pics on here but ill likely be wiping off the ones i do…

@stokieGal:  that is a GREAT idea!

@bostongirl27:  i have tried to pin a pic before that said ‘you cannot pin this’ it was on some big designer dress website. obviously you can get round this easily enough if you wanted to that bad.

Actually, that exact thing did happen to me.  I had a girl post something to my FB and say… I saw this on pinterest, isn’t this you? It happened again a few weeks later, one was of my hair and one picture was of my earings… I came to WB and tried to delete my pictures b/c I didn’t feel like I wanted them up after that, but didn’t know how? Can anyone explain that process to me?

@stokieGal:  i dont think that its a setting you can do for images… think those images you cannot pin are not .jpgs or .tifs, and since i think you can only upload those types of files here in the bee, there is not getting around it.

ETA: i have no idea the exact workings of pinterst or WB, but i know its something to do with restricted file types, since i too have had this happen!

i am not overly concerned about it, but i do agree with janie-janie that its not the best add on i have seen at my time posting on this site…
