You are so lucky to not have had this sooner! I’m 14 weeks and whenever I feel the stretching pains I know the hunger isn’t far behind! I get ravenous for about 48 hours when this happens and will basically eat anything that isn’t nailed down.

My go-to snacks are pretzels, pickles, Luigi’s Italian Ice (only 100 calories, comes in Mango mmm and I can stomach it better than icecream), cashews, and goldfish.

Sorry I’m not very good help on the healthy snack front right now

Diamondgurl:  I am big on apples and peanut butter, english muffins, string cheese, and coconut milk for my “healthy” snacking. I’m also a big graham cracker fan these days. Protien really does help keep the hunger pangs at bay the most for me. If I eat some form of protien for every meal, I don’t get the ravenous “I’m going to eat everything I see” pangs nearly as often. See if increasing your protien helps. Good luck with those hunger pangs! they really get you, but for me they did taper off again. Mine cut back at about 30 weeks thanks to some nasty heartburn. Now I’m back to eating pretty normally at 34 weeks.

I ate a lot of the spreadable cheese wedges on crackers, hummus, nuts, etc… At times, whatever sounded ok!

I’m past the early phase of ravenous hunger (now 14 weeks) but what helped me was constantly eating very low calorie snacks like puffed rice cakes and low fat salted crackers. I could just nibble on them all the time and not feel badly about it.

Diamondgurl:  It is very, very real! I’m 32 weeks and have been ravenous off and on (but mostly on) since 4 weeks! I have to eat a snack during the night- ugh! Anyways, I don’t know if you like dairy (I love it) but it seems to work well for me- lots of protein and some fat, too. I like individual Greek yogurts, string cheese or Babybell cheese, and those little organic chocolate milks (I freeze them for an hour so they stay cold but that’s just for taste, they are ok to drink at room temp). For non-dairy, I also like apples with peanut butter or almond butter, Odwalla carrot juice and peanut butter and honey sandwich on whole wheat toast. Good luck!!

Oh god…I’m almost 6 weeks and I have noticed already that I cannot seem to stay full. I cannot believe it has started this early! Pregnancy hunger is so real that it was my first symptom. I never ate like this before! I brought home a car full of fruits, veggies and healthy snacks this weekend and DH was like..by the time this is over, you’ll have eaten us out of house and home!

I ate peanuts and almonds by the crate earlier in my pregnancy. They’re fatty, but it’s good fat that builds baby’s brain.

definately…I’m only at 4 weeks (max?) I’m eating a lot! We normally are able to kind of skimp on groceries, but I think we’ll be spending more just to keep me stocked in fruit and veg…and I’ll maybe get some higher priced things that I like and usually don’t buy (like greek yogurt and natural nut butters). Gotta do it!

LilLis:  Holy god girl, where are you from that you’ve never had goldfish? It is in fact NOT a pet fish but a delicious tasty cracker that comes in a variety of flavors! Check it out and get yourself some STAT http://www.goldfishfun.com/
