Man this stinks! Any other communications with them I'd make sure they put it in writing. Last thing you need is to have thought the pavillion was all yours and then you have some other party there with you!
If it is rustic outdoors can you have a dinner bell to ring for dinner? Can you have a DJ do a pre-recording of your announcements that you can upload on you IPod?
What about an old-fashioned megaphone to make announcements?
Oh and one more thing. I would try to do the cake cutting, toasts and bouqet toss all back to back. That way you don't have to make but one announcement and have their attention all at one time.
Record someone "annoucing" everything, and make a playlist with everything timed out. You can still have the wedding annoucements, but it'll just on your ipod instead!
I like the suggestion of recording someone making the annoucements!
Those are awesome ideas, I would never have thought of recording someone doing the announcements. Thanks ladies!

Things have been going along eerily smooth since we got engaged so I should have been expecting something to happen but I wasn't. To refresh your memories, we are getting married at a county park in the garden area with reception in the pavilion after. Very rustic, casual, that kind of thing.
I signed our contract in February and asked the ancient woman that I was dealing with if generators were allowed in the powerless pavilions and she said that would be fine.
Fast forward to yesterday, my fiance called the park to ask a couple of other questions, he spoke to a park ranger who just happened to mention that generators are not allowed because of the gasoline and noise. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I don't know what to do, we can't change venues, invites have gone out, venue is paid for, and honestly, we can't afford to change it to somewhere else at this point.
We could do an ipod and battery operated speakers, but then we don't have a dj who announces us and does all of the "wedding stuff"
Any suggestions? I was looking at solar powered generators but they are outrageously expensive to purchase. Have you ever been to a wedding where they didn't announce what was going on? If so, did it turn out ok? Sorry for the whining, I am just at my wits end trying to come up with a solution.
