And let’s face it, with wedding planning in general….
Is that you pour so much time, effort, thinking, planning, etc. into something you are doing yourself that the magic wears off.
I am totally in love with my idea to DIY my invitations (I love paper crafting) but the magic is completely gone. I am so tired of the trial and error process, looking at these colors, etc. that I just want to scrap them and forget about it.
I love.love.love DIY and I wouldn’t *really* scrap my invitations, but I will spend countless wasted hours (and dollars!!) on “trials” that didn’t work….
But in the end, they’ll be beautiful and they’ll be mine, but man. DIY. You make me tired.

@multinational: The magic will come back on your wedding day and again when you see your pics.

Well said! I made about 10 different invites, and then finally ordered some samples to get fresh ideas. Then, my FI drew a picture of an aspen tree, and I put the wording on, and we have a perfect invite. Then for the RSVP card he did the drawing of leaves and I again did the wording. I was a little bummed that all of my hard work went to waste, but I love the finished product.

I think my issue was that what I was trying was still similar the last one I made. Then I kept making the same mistakes and got frustrated. Try something completely different, or ask your FI to try to make one. But the magic will indeed come back!

@multinational: I felt the same way after designing, troubleshooting, printing, and assembling our invites. Then I sent them out, I have gotten so much positive feedback and compliments that it has made it worth it hang in there,I promise it will be worth it in the end!

@multinational: I felt that way about my DIY programs, but man when they were done they were so beautiful and worth the effort!

@multinational: I know exactly what you mean. I’m doing my invites too and after making so many trial ones and running into so many walls, I’m just done. I don’t even think they look good anymore! Although my FMIL assures me they do. Too much stress haha
